  1. I haven't mentioned any name, but there is someone I think can "right the ship". Someone said no one would want to come and rebuild. Well, that could be said for Graham, and Tazewell as well, but they have rebuilt with the right coaches. It can't be a revolving door, because those doors move quickly, around and around. No effort to push it open, go inside and stay. I hope for the community, Blues program, the young men on the team, and upcoming players, it isn't about being vested in the school system, but an investment for the future of the program. Wise decisions aren't made hastily for gratification, but long-term for success and development.
  2. Here's my take on the game: 1. Homefield advantage with a loud and proud crowd can hopefully disrupt the Galax Maroons in creating some offside penalties. 2. Honaker can't just play a good 2nd half, they must be dominant all 4 quarters. Don't give Galax yardage with penalties. Let them earn the yards. 3. Must keep emotions in check. It should be a close game in score, and the 2nd half has to be played with control, or it could be kryptonite between a Tiger win or loss. 4. Hopefully there's been extra preparation for Honaker's special teams limiting big returns on kickoffs. With all that being said, Lord willing, I plan on watching the game Saturday and rooting for the orange and black. GO TIGERS!!!!

  4. 6:23 4Q Honaker 28-18 Lowe with a 34 yd TD run
  5. Tyler Cole #71 has Tiger Paws on his helmet, but I see a Tornado swirling on Fuller Field.
  6. 2:36 3Q Honaker 22-18 Rye Cove scores on a Honaker turnover and Tigers assessed 2 penalties for 25 yds leads RC into the endzone. 2 point RC conversion failed
  7. At 8:02 3Q Honaker scores TD to make score 22-6 On kickoff Darnell of Rye Cove returns kick about 90 yds to score TD At 7:45 3Q Honaker leads 22-12
  8. 4:21 1Q Rye Cove 6 Honaker 14 Musick to Bandy for 16 yd passing TD
  9. Bummer!!! NFHS cameras aren't working at Honaker Check back in 15 minutes after game start
  10. FINAL Buford 14 Grayson 19 If anyone wanted to see a superb defensive game...this was it for both Grayson and Buford. Buford's QB Raiola is a big guy. Has an arm and is accurate when he has time to throw, but Grayson sacked him several times for big losses. He isn't very mobile. Same can be said for Buford's defense, sacked Grayson's QB several times for losses. I got frustrated with Grayson's play calling on offense. I believe every 1st down was a run up the gut with a 1 yard gain. I knew what their play would be. Predictable, predictable. Also, their run game wasn't effective the whole game. Glad Grayson came away with the win. Kudos to their defense. It kept them in the game and they were able to pull out the win on last drive of the game.
  11. This is a game I will be watching tonight. I have been to several Grayson football games from Little League through high school. It will be shown on NFHS. Airtime 7pm. Beautiful facilities for both schools. Buford Wolves will be lead by nation's top QB Dylan Raiola who transferred into Buford from CA. The Grayson Rams have a high-powered offense as well as defense, with a lot of transfers in as well. GO RAMS!!! Dylan Raiola, Buford to meet Grayson for the first time (msn.com)
  12. Mr. Sayers was a giant of a man. My neighbor for years, and his kids my friends. I can remember traveling down the valley and see the BV Tigers in the field practicing across from his house. I have in my possession a beautiful carving of a boot he made, given to me by his children after his death. He and his wife were wonderful down-to-earth people. Sadly he passed with ALS.

  14. This picture says it all. Love and compassion, faith with action. Priceless!!!!
  15. What a Herculean effort by the Dawgs. Only got to watch the 2nd half watching Honaker. The Bears knows they've been in a dogfight. Many said no contest, the Bears "hands down." The Dawgs showed moxie and grit. Wish it would have been a different outcome for this game. Hat's off to Union.
  16. This was the game that counted. I haven't followed them weekly, watching Loris play. Never perfect moments in high school games, but as the saying goes "the cream rising to the top."
  17. The 1st half the Tigers shot themselves in the foot on D. They didn't show playoff defense. Probably halftime talk left some ears tingling. They listened and responded. Sometimes your identity can be murky when on the big stage, but you wipe off the fog, clear your head and get it done.
  18. Like that picture!!! Coach always wanted to be practicing at Thanksgiving. As the Terminator said "I'll be back"
  19. Hats off to Honaker's DC for making adjustments at the half. Goodspeed wore down in the 2nd half playing both ways. I believe Honaker shows the road to Salem goes through Fuller Field!!!
  20. Honaker recovers onside kick Lowe takes it down to the PH 26 Hold nullifies Honaker TD
  21. Tigers are roaring Honaker goes up 38-22 9:26 4q Lowe with some awesome running. Scores TD Scores 2 pt conversion
