  1. Yea it's outdoor too though, they made some schools move those big air horn and whistles off the field first. They never do anything about it, but they would hit the team with an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. That guy from richlands using the megaphone all those years made me remember the rule. Gate city has that dang horn thing too
  2. http://www.vhsl.org/doc/upload/pub-smanshp-state-events.pdf Page 6. Maybe it's just at state level events, but I'm pretty sure it's all games
  3. I thought that was a vhsl rule anyway
  4. 14-14 lb and northside. Little over a minute left
  5. Very well said redtiger. If our youth isn't our number one concern, then we should be checking ourselves first. I'm impressed that so many of us care about this topic.
  6. I don't know about you guys, but I'm sick of hearing about whose fault it is when something goes bad. This conversation is just another example of it. The pressure that needs to be put on these kids should be focused on responsibility for their own actions. Sports are the perfect platform to teach that. "Well let me ask those that do "get it". What are you doing to help this failing generation? Coaching, Big brother/sister, Sunday school teacher, Donate time for after school projects, working the Teen Center, or just complaining about how bad this generation is getting." Yes mrb...I do some of these and a few more that most aren't willing to do. BUT...there is no need to go into that because it is about the children. I won't ask anyone to speak up, because those of us that do these things for kids really don't give a crap who knows about it. The ONLY reason I responded to this is because you asked and I felt a bit offended that somebody would question it. I would hope that most of the posters on here help out in at least some capacity.
  7. tazewell was without 3 starters also, 2 off linemen and a rb. No excuses. Richlands capitalized on the turnovers and short field. Congrats to the blues. Tazewell fought hard till the end.
  8. He couldn't have turned 19 before August 1, 2013 or he would be ineligible to play. Vhsl rule.
  9. Ball to start at running back? I can see him at wr but not rb.
  10. From the highlights of this Fridays game, Giles appeared to throw the deep ball pretty well.
  11. Coach Allen will build off of what he has. Remember Tazewell only has 3 seniors. 2 are injured and haven't been on the field. There will be some decent role players coming into the program in the next 2 years. The key will be getting them in the weight room. Good luck to both teams Friday night. Hopefully Tazewell will come ready to play like the last 2 weeks.
  12. Congrats to Marion. Wagner is a man! Tazewell could not tackle him at all. Stud
  13. I will. Be safe coming over the mountain tonight! Should be a good game.
  14. I know he played for richlands middle last year. He was a very good athlete. I think he might have joined the team late this year, which is why he is still on jv. I've heard stories about the "picking" as well. But I've heard both sides of that story also. Sticking to what I know as fact...he is a good football player that has the potential to play d1 athletically.
  15. he played against tazewell in a jv game last week. Best player on the field for sure.
  16. These 2 teams are very similar. Both have loads of talent but are still trying to figure out how to win. Tazewell has shown improvement, and Marion seems to shoot themselves in the foot a little. I've seen 2 of Marion's games and both times they either fumbled or had penalties that killed impressive drives. Both teams have the potential to play with anybody in the area, but we haven't seen it consistently yet. I am hoping Tazewell wins of course! Both teams are very unpredictable this far though
  17. GW has a good team. Tazewell got on them early and special teams set the tone. Tazewell had 250+ yards on offense in the first half. Onside kicks and pooch kicks kept the ball out of GWs hands. defense played inspired and flew to the ball. I'm sure GW will have lots of offensive yards in the stat book, but Tazewell kept them out of the endzone when it counted. Hopefully this is the start of a big turnaround. Dogs have the talent, but they need more games like this to build confidence and LEARN how to win.
  18. Sorry, you are correct. I was pretty excited at the time.
  19. Tazewell played well. Had a huge fumble going in on a long pass also. Had a chance to go up 42-14. Great job tonight boys
