  1. Oh my lord! Hell yeah what a game. Great job GMen! The D finally did it! Great job to all players. Keep it going boys! I'm beside myself with such a great game. Last year bluefield this year fort. Way to play the spoilers again. What a game
  2. Just for the record everyone knows Coach Marrs is not here anymore. How long will that be a excuse for poor "coaching performance"? We are a few years in and it's not looking like a marked turnaround like last year was. In fact we have fallen off a good bit. Just my opinion. What were the credentials Williams had to get the job? This is a honest question not being sarcastic. I was told he had a great record at other schools then I was told he had very little to nothing to do with the programs he was employed in, more of a field maintenance role. What is the truth because it sure doesn't appear he has much experience from the things I have witnessed. Just a observation and opinion. Not saying it is a fact at all but next year will be worse. Are we still going to be saying do we want Doug back? That's old news and he is old news. This is Wulliams team now and it's far from what I rxpected. Next year will truly decide what side of the fence I am on but right now I'm leaning and ready to hop off. Some changes need to happen in my opinion. Assistants from what I hear have no say in formations or play calling unless it is approved by the coach so we can't blame them.
  3. Graham's best shot at doing something was last year. A steady decline this year, I fear a big drop off next year. Unless we have player or two move in. I kind of agree that Graham looked like it was set up this year with a easy schedule. To make the playoffs that is and they still have a shot. A slim one but a shot. graham lost a lot even though some people refused to see it. I think they are overachieving to get to 5-5 this year. It's a very mediocre team from a skill position standpoint with little speed across the board. Next year will be worse I fear. I have seen every game but one and have yet to be wowed in any facit of the game. The line is the line bright spot and we lose quite a bit of that for next year. I hope I'm wrong but I was right this year and not proud of that. I was hoping the sunshine pumpers were right but reality set in quickly for me in the first game. I am very proud of what this team has done to possibly make the playoffs but I fear next year will be worse. With that said I feel if we had one or two playmakers it could have been a different year. We are missing that on both sides of the ball. Perhaps there will be a surprise or two next year but from the lack of substitutions I feel the coaching staff doesn't have high expectations for next year.
  4. I am glad there are no hard feelings. I think a lot of Grundys community as a whole. The people have always been very kind and it reminds me of a place I would love to be. The kids are always very polite and well mannered. I cheer for Grundy anytime they are not playing Graham as well as the kids in Tazewell. I just think it is a classless move to keep on the gas against such a good group of people as a whole. Good luck the rest of the way and I look forward to visiting you guys soon
  5. Well to be fair we only scored 2 legit touchdowns on Bluefield. One was a long run and the other a blown coverage with a man wide open and no safety. Every other point was against the third and possibly forth string. Let's not kid ourselves. The poster from Grundy that stated Karma, I couldn't agree more and I apologize for our lack of class, it wasn't our kids but a coach with little knowledge of how to manage a football game. Records shouldn't mean a thing unless your playing a equal opponent. Heck no past coach would have done that and I apologize to the kids at Grundy. Next year we have to replace a lot on the line and I fear it's going to be difficult due to our style of football. The line is very effective and they save our team from the lack of speed. We have north and south runners and without that line, we need to find some speed to be effective. We lose a lot at the end of the year. I fear a steady decline next year and then another good team the year after. Our offensive line is a definite strong point.
  6. You could say the D and blame it as such, but 7 points will not win games. This team is average and ran into a very bad day. We did nothing against Bluefield, did you watch the game? We scored on their middle school. Grundy was pitiful and everyone scores on Giles not astounding D last but not least is Tazewell. C'mon we had a good game against Grayson and that is it. Don't blame the D, I have been to every game and we WERE overachieving to get here. Be proud of what has been accomplished and hope we make the playoffs
  7. Graham has 2 sure wins. Bland and Natrows. Galax has a wonderful Rb and Grayson has a very gifted qb. Both games are winnable because both teams are very average. Fort Chiswell seems to be the real deal. We have a very average football team as well, just being honest, and our coaching is pitiful. Look at the click management from two weeks ago down two scores and running the ball up the middle with 3 minutes left or the infamous go for two to make a "statement" and you lose against a down Richlands team. Let's talk about running the score up on Grundy and the coach even calls you out in the paper, let's talk about Union in the playoffs going for a first down inside your own 15 with the score tied. Sour grapes would be a opinion without merit! Our kids play hard and give 100% and I think that is a sign of good coaching but everything else is pitifully disappointing. I said 4 wins with the possibility of 5 max. I think it is pretty much a reality. Could win 6! I hope but at least 5.
  8. I was wrong, hands down wrong. Am I rethinking a team? Yes. A beat down by Bluefield, a rough game against Tazewell and a one point loss to Richlands. Princeton beat Bluefield and they were abysmal last year. I do not think Bluefield is a world beater, but very good. I think all area teams are down. It's hard to gauge. I stand by my post of a max of 5 wins, most likely 4. We looked muck better but Richlands adjusted and shut down our passing in the second half, we became one dimensional. I like that one dimension (Cook) but that will not translate well with a D that gives up as many opportunities as ours. We were out coached in the second half and that's not saying much considering the majority of coaches outside Mance are new. Count me impressed by what the GMen did! I was wrong and happy to be as such, just wish we would have won. Great game GMen! My jury is still out and this week won't change anything. We should win and I say should.
  9. Hats off to Graham for a well played game last week. I thought we would get beat soundly, they proved me wrong and played a great game. I think Graham wins this one in easy fashion, either that or Richlands is not that good this year. I was told by some Richlands faithful they saw last weeks game coming, that they were down, and if we were gonna get them that was our chance. I believe they are a solid football team and Graham put it together last weekend. The power run game was a thing of beauty for both teams. I think Graham wins 34-20 Way to go Graham, you may have lost but it seems to be coming together.
  10. This^^^ I have seen both teams play. I will say this, Richlands looks very good and well coached, position wise. The play calling at the end of the game last week cost them a win. They were still the better team. Are they as good as last year, no, the Johnson kid was a huge player for them. Are they still good, yes! All I heard was how great Graham was going to be, it just hasn't panned out. They play hard but don't have the "it" factor. Are they as good as they were last year? No. Will they play hard, yes. Is a kicker gonna play a role in this one? No. This is another Bluefield game. It all hinges on when Mance calls off the dogs. You are comparing apples and oranges. Like it or not we are down and even a down Richlands team wins this one by as many as they chose. Graham beat Tazewell by a few field goals because they scored as many TDs as we did. Tazewell is bad, I cheer for them but something is happening down there and it seems to be getting rough. We will win 4 games and have a shot at a 5th but it ain't Richlands
  11. Graham will win this one like Bluefield won the previous week. Taz will score only in the fourth after we have subs in. Just like we did against Bluefield, only 2 ligit touchdowns and 70 or so actual yards. As bad as we looked Taz set a all time low last week. In the battle of two demoralized teams we win this one going away. If Taz is within 30 the rest of our season will be awful. No disrespect for Taz but they are absolutely a bottom feeder this year. Right there with Bland
  12. Good news is scheduling. Graham has Taz, Bland, Narrows and a pitiful Giles team (they lost everything). Just realized we played Grundy! We r all but guaranteed 5 wins. A sure loss to Richlands is the only game we have no chance. Fort and Grayson may be counted in the "little chance of winning" category but we have a chance with those two. Galax has some speed but we should beAt them. My projection is 5-5 but we may find a sixth in there somewhere. Promising schedule maybe 7 wins again. Our schedule really is favorable but beating all the bad teams with the new realignment we may stand no chance of playoffs without one big win. Is it by points this year? How does it work?
  13. I will be there and yes I knew, but thanks all the same. I am going with a friend. I was amazed b brown wasn't the qb given all he had done the second half of last year but hats off to him and all he has done good luck to the blues except when they play graham this year. Taking nothing away from the other ten on the field. Football is a team sport. I'm just glad we have a team in the area doing work and taking care if business. Besides someone needs to beat Bluefield this year! Good luck and I will see you in Union God willing! Lol P.s. I don't think union will be a problem
  14. I didn't get to see the game because I was at the GHS BHS game but my buddies down that was say River Michaels just dominated. They talked like he just came out of the blue no pun intended and looked unstoppable. Hats off to a kid few believed in and lit it up! Way to go young man. I hate to say it but I will be down there to watch the kid next week. Graham Taz has about as much appeal as watching cake boss with my wife. Good luck young man and keep it up. Richlands looks to be the only area team to have a shot at a real good year, even when people said they were down
  15. Sheets is a athelete. He playes all over the field when they need him. Everyone was talking about what a good QB he was until the Richlands game, now this. Not everyone can throw 38 screen passes a game against a team that has no idea how to cover a pass of any sort. Dadgum did you go to the game, nothing but their d line busting our o line in the mouth and our DBs giving a ten to fifteen yard coushion to the WRs and then flat out not covering them. They moved Sheets to WR and RB to get him in space and good things happened. Then went away from it, dont know why but they did. I honestly cant tell you how many times recievers had nobody within a ten yard radius of them (Richlands). Hopefully Graham can fix this. I wish Sheets had gone to Richlands and played Graham, then maybe someone would give the kid respect for playing for his team and making it better any way he could instead of going to Richlands or Bluefield. I believe last year the score was thirty something to nothing with the second string playing the entire second half. If I remember Baker played for Graham last year against Richlands/Bluefield check the scores of those games. Lets down Sheets. Why not? Baker was second in passing lastyear, throwing twice maybe three times as much as Sheets AND Sheets led the team in rushing, but they always shared the stats in the paper and on the radio, wonder why? If you want to make a statement about greatness lead a team to wins, dont transfer to a winner. Like going from NC State to Alabama and talking about how great you are when u beat NC State. There is a big difference between playing behind Grahams line and Richlands. In four years that margine will decline greatly. Weightlifting is a fairly new idea at Graham and the results are showing in the first year. We are getting better, every year and will continue to improve. I love our boys and think this is the beginning of great things. Time will tell, but the screen passes was a great coach seeing a weekness and we did absolutely nothing to fix it, why not keep doing it. Coaching was evident on fourth and goal not once but twice when the QB was in shotgun, byw the only completed downfield (not screen) passes. Everytime the QB was in shotgun it was with 90% certainty it was a pass. Watch the highlights on WVVA and tell me if there is a CB anywhere to be found on either play. Nope, just Hunter Cook on one TD trying to make up ground on blown coverage. He will be a great one. On a positive note, at least our CB will tackle this year. God bless you boys, we are all proud of you, dont listen to peoples daddys.
