  1. Class 1A: Cloudland 223, Unaka 34.

Schools have until October 25th to inform the TSSAA if they will seek to play up in class, so far Elizabethton is the only school so far in our area to do so. I will post the

     regions when they become available.

I am going to assume that Unaka is a typo at 34

  2. I was listening on the radio during the coin toss and when the Bluefield player was asked what they want to do, he said we want to kick the ball and the ref asked again did you want to defer and the kid said..."I don't know man, I've never done this before" which I would blame on the coaches as much as the kid. In saying thathat the refs gave him ample opportunity to change his mind. So only person to fault is that on the coaches and player.

  3. 100% fact. For the 2nd year there will not be any pre selling of tickets. All tickets are to be purchased at the gate, unless you are a season ticket holder. Tickets are $6

Just curious as to why?  Crowd control? Seems like the only school in the area that does this so i'm just curious as to the thought process.  Seems to me the best way to sell tickets is to give as many options to purchase as possible.

  4. After watching Richlands in person last week, I would rather see that game as well, but Appo is 4.5 hours from Bristol...

I'll just go to the BSG instead. Lol.

Which way you going? I live in Johnson City and Google maps has it only 3 hrs and 40min....

    Shared route

From Bristol, VA to Appomattox via I-81 N and US-460 E.

    3 hr 30 min (216 mi)

    1. Get on I-81 N

    2. Follow I-81 N to US-11 N in Amsterdam. Take exit 150B from I-81 N

    3. Take US-460 E to Confederate Blvd in Appomattox

    4. Arrive at location: Appomattox

  5. So then they really have only seen running teams.... not to dismiss VA High but they do not have the passing game such as richlands, union or abingdon. I will be really anxious to see how Glenvar can handle and prepare for the passing game. We can say a secondary is good but they haven't been tested like this before and that is hard to prepare for in practice.

  6. So has Appomattox seen any spread based teams this year? I see that most teams in central VA are run first and don't have the QBs to face like a Richlands, Abingdon or even Union has. In Highschool it is hard to prepare and practice for such doffereneces, so I am curious to see if they played a team with a winning record that has a pass first or more balanced offense. If not it will be tough to for them to prepare and make in game adjustments. This is where I think Buckingham was at a disadvantage because they had football players with size and speed. I look forward to the match but curious to see if anyone else knows appomattoxs opponents

  7. I was reading on another board about central VA having different customs and practices from pregame with the bands and fans making noise...which made me think of another practice that i've seen from all fans from SWVA.....i continue to see fans make great noise when their team is on defense, however, they continue the same level of noise while their team is on offense....it appears that it becomes a war between the fans on the other side of the field, for who can make the most noise....which is really confusing because you don't want to make noise while your team is on offense....wanted to see if anyone else has noticed this.

  8. Here are unofficial stats I garnered from Blfd Daily, Bristol Herald and Richlands News Press on Asbury through 9 games

*I could not find stats on Central game for attempts and completions

HUDL has Asbury listed with 2158 yds through 9 games

For some reason i believed he threw for over 400 yards against Bluefield.
