The officiating must have been pretty bad because I don't think I've ever heard the folks from Galax complain about the officials.

It was without a doubt questionable. I was there as a neutral observer just to enjoy a couple of great games and to these neutral eyes, Riverheads did get the benefit of the calls in question each and every time. The roughing the punter call on the partially blocked punt was terrible.

Galax played with a ton of heart and should be very proud of their showing yesterday. Congrats on a great season!

  2. I was at the 2-0 Holston/JIB game at Emory & Henry. It's one of the most memorable games I have ever attended. A rematch would be a good story, but like previous posters I think it's unlikely too.

I doubt I will ever attend another game that ends 2-0.

And thanks to Union_Fan for the link to the news story...

  3. This looks to be one of the better matchups next Friday night and on paper, seems like it could be a very competitive game.

Grundy has won the last three years and the last two seasons by 20+ points.

Honaker has had two weeks to rest up and prepare for this one and for what it's worth have beaten the common opponents (Twin Valley, Lebanon) this year by a little more than Grundy did.

For those of you that have seen both teams play, I'm curious as to what you think of this one.

  4. I would think Soccer...

seen it talked about on here some, not just a regional issue but a national issue. For the SWVA/NETN/SOWV area, what sport do you think is gaining the most participation? Has to be basketball, right?

  5. I haven't seen Richlands play this season but I did see Abingdon Friday against Pulaski. Abingdon had a linemen go down on the first play from scrimmage, which I assumed was the center. The next two snaps resulted in a TD and a Safety for PC. Afterwards the snaps got a little better but they were not on point almost all night. This threw Abingdon's timing off the entire night. With that being said, PC was still much better and much more physical than Abingdon. I believe PC would have won regardless of the injury on the first play.

As mentioned earlier in this thread, Richlands has had an extra week to prepare for this game and they are playing at home against a team that just took a total whipping. I'll take Richlands in this one by 7-10 points.

I would be curious to know if anyone knows if Abingdon will have the starting center back this week? That very well could be a huge factor in this one.

  6. Big game coming up next Friday. The Falcons are 2-0 after pulling one out at Gate City. Pulaski is also 2-0 with wins over Northside and Bassett, only allowing 6 points in two games.

Pulaski has won the last two seasons including a 42-14 win last year. Are the Falcons 28 points better in just one season?

    Interesting game.

    Thoughts?

I can't argue that, sorry for busting your chops.

No problem whatsoever, just talking football.

I love Bullitt Park too, although living in Bristol doesn't allow me to get over that way very often.

Having played in that game in '97, it's no wonder you have such passion for the place.

  8. Bullitt Park? Yes, many times. Including PV/App '97. Which I believe will be the best high school game I will ever attend. As for Blues/Bears? I haven't. Although I did attend Richlands/PV games in the past. For this week though I still think Chilhowie/JIB will be a more competitive game but all the fun happens Friday night and we shall see.

  9. Even with Richlands/Union and Abingdon/GC playing this week, I think this will be the best game Friday night in SWVA. The same matchup last year in Chilhowie wasn't close but I believe this one will be. Warriors win this one by single digits.
