Gate City will no doubt be at least as good as last year. However, after seeing them play this summer several times, I think they will be significantly better than last year if they continue to grow together

I have played with those 3 cousins. One might be 6' 4" or 6' 5", the other 2 are barely 6' 3". But overall Gate City should have a pretty good team this year with a good shot at returning to Richmond

That probably came across wrong. All credit to the Beavers, but GC did not block at all. You all are definitely a good team with a good D but Gate City did not fire off the ball hardly at all tonight. It was strange but as I have said Congrats!

Bottom line is Gate City couldn't block all night long. It wasn't anything to do with the Beaver D-line but we just weren't getting a hat on a hat. Also, after moving the ball pretty well the first couple of drives GC's play calling changed. GC went away from what was working and went to off-tackle runs all night with nothing to change it up. Bad play calling. Strange thing is that Bluefield only ran about 4 plays on offense all night and GC never adjusted defensively to those plays. Credit Bluefield that they stuck with what was working but GC never made a single adjustment to correct the problem. With one simple adjustment Bluefield's offense could have been slowed some. However, Congrats Bluefield and Good Luck the rest of the way! Gate City will be just fine, this will be a good growing experience and GC will only come out of it as an improved team in the future.

Wrong, bluefield had patterson for the entire game agaimst GC last year because he had a couple of penaties called on him in the second half

I also believe the 2003 Gate City State Championship team could have played with these teams. GC went undefeated and only had one or two games that was won by fewer than 10 points and the state championship game was a blowout! Gate City had 1 from this team play at Virginia Tech, 5 play at Carson-Newman, 3 at Emory and Henry, and a few at UVA-Wise. Not saying that they would have beat you all or Maryville but they definitely would have been right with them and the games could have probably went either way if they were played. They would have been some great games if they could have been played. Don't underestimate some of the great teams that have come out of Southwest Virginia over the years!

Gate City actually had 2 turnovers. But it was a great and hard hitting game. Excellent job Devils!

Actually, only 2 of the 8 that quit had any significant playing time at all last year. and they were NOT major contributors even though they played. Im not sure exactly where you heard that 6 starters from last year quit but that is incorrect. Also, the biggest injury GC has at the moment is with one of their running backs. However, he will play against Richlands but he just will not be playing both ways

If Lee gets past Haysi then there is no way that Honaker beats Lee. If GC hits their free throws then they win the game easy but thats the way it goes sometimes. Congrats to Honaker on a well played game, they came out fired up and GC came out flat.

Lee and Gate City would NOT be put back in AA due to this. That will not happen, I can assure you of that.

YEah most likely this scenario is going to play but it will not be set in stone until after all of the championship games this weekend. There is a chance that if New Mexico State were to beat Boise State then VT could end up in a BCS bowl, although Boise will prolly beat them by 40. As a VT fan I will enjoy the matchup but VT really deserves a better opponent than Tennessee. VT is in the top 12 of the BCS and Tennessee is not even ranked therefore it makes no sense that VT will have to play UT rather than a better team. It is a no win situation for VT, if they win the bowl game then it's not a big deal because all we did was beat a 7-5 Tennessee team. It would not be an impressive win. Then there is the other side and that Tennessee could possibly win. I understand that they want bowl games that they can sell out but VT deserves much better competition!!!

First of all it seems that someone needs to get their facts straight and quit listening to some made up theory by Al Gore. The fact is that Al Gore made all of $2 million in his political career, which was well over 20 years. However, in the 10-12 years that he has been pushing global warming very hard he has made $100 million. He is in it for the money. He doesn't even believe what he is preaching because he flies around in his private jet to conferences to speak on the subject. Seems to be a little hypocritical to me!!! Now on to the actual subject of global warming. There is no scientific proof for man-made global warming. More and more scientists every day are saying that it doesn't exist. But if anyone was to do some of their own research they would realize that there is no such thing. Yes, glaciers are melting in parts of the polar ice caps but in other parts they are expanding. That is a FACT. It has been that way for thousands of years. The earth goes through warming and cooling trends, it always has. And trying to blame this on carbon emissions is ridiculous. It is a proven FACT that 70%-80% of carbon emissions come from volcanoes. So there is no way that an increase in that 20% could cause this change. Al Gore is a joke who doesn't even believe in what he says, BOTTOM LINE IS HE IS IN IT FOR THE MONEY. Man-made globabl warming is a hoax. I dont understand how some people in America can be so simple minded and be fooled this easily. The problem is no one is willing to do the reasearch on their own. A lot of people just take what the liberal media feeds them and then they run with it. The Global Warming hoax is just evidence that proves how easily people are fooled and scared into believing something. People need to begin to have a mind of their own and do some research. Warming and cooling does happen but it happens in trends and is in NO WAY caused by man. Man-made Global Warming is a fallacy and does NOT exist!!!!

The biggest issue with VT right now is health. They have a few key players that are out and will be out for a couple weeks so that will be their biggest obstacle right now but overall when healthy they will be tough to beat

they did and GC played Powell Valley on friday, it was the first time that they had done that!!
