  1. Is posted in today's Bristol Herald Courier.
  2. Thank you for taking and posting the game photos. You are a good guy.
  3. How many of these have you seen in Southwest Vrginia? VHS' kicker, Ian Frye, was 2 for 2 in the Gate City game. The longer kick hit a fence 79 yards from the point of the kick. The shorter kick went about 75 yards. Have a look by clicking on the following link:
  4. You are delusional. None of the things you are saying are true. I think you just like to excite yourself and that you will believe or say whatever it takes to get you there. Gate City has a great team and I expect that they will easily win tonight, but your comments are really childish.
  5. These young men are very talented and have bright futures Best of luck to both of them
  6. That was questionable because there was only one ref standing near the post to watch. Kick was so high over the post. As far as working on field goals he does in practice but does not get game chances nor does he get any practice time with the snap and hold. He is constantly working to improve all aspects of kicking and punting.
  7. His team doesn't do field goals. At UVa's kicking camp this summer, Ian was 19 for 20 in the field goal competition. The kicks ranged from 20 yards to 48 yards.
  8. Ian Frye is a senior this year and is the K/P for VHS. Please have a look at his recruiting video for games 4 through 7 (Graham, Honaker, Chilhowie and Lebanon) at the following link Thanks
  9. The Virginia High kicker averages 69 yards on kickoffs and has 30 touchbacks on 32 tries. In warmups before the Honaker game, he had a 10 mph wind at his back and made multiple 65 yard field goals and 1 from 70 yards.
  10. Ian Frye is the kicker and punter at Virginia High School. Please have a look at his video of the John Battle and Tennessee High games.
  11. VHS beat Abingdon 24-7 last year. VHS is much improved this year, so if I were Abingdon I would not be counting on an easy win this year
  12. Will they also give him a shot as punter?
  13. Congratulations to Dave. He is a fine young man
  14. UVa, UNC, and Virginia Tech. But its very competitive at the kicker position. Usually, you have to walk on at DI schools.
  15. Ian Frye is a junior at Virginia High School. Please have a look at his game highlights vide.
  16. Check out this Youtube video of Virginia High's Kicker/punter, Ian Frye. Ian is a junior this year
  17. I met Eric playing adult soccer in Johnson City several years ago. From time to time thereafter, I would see him at Marion High School games, and he always was very friendly and enthusiastic about his team. Eric was a great guy and I'm very sorry for his untimely death.

    Soccer 2010

I saw Abingdon play several times in both 2008 and 2009 and I know the game. The 2008 side with N. Henry was the better team - my opinion, not trying to insult anyone. The 2009 team was still good enough to win the district but had less of a chance to advance to state. The 2010 side should be down from 2009. You lost alot of quality - Jarret, Cook, S. Henry etc. - and I don't think they can be replaced this year.

Abingdon will be down this year. Lost many of their best players and replacements are not on hand. Abingdon was not the same without Neale H. last year and this year will be worse
  20. Gate City beat Richlands by 10-7. When Gate City's and Abingdon's first teams played in a Jamboree, the score was 28-0 Gate City. After only one quarter! Connect the dots.

    VHS vs THS

Both. VHS moved the ball well (about 180 yards in the first half alone), but had 6 interceptions. THS is the real deal this year.
  22. THS should be favored by 2 touchdowns, but I don't expect a blowout or the dogs having to be called off. The reason is attitude. THS always has the stronger team and seems offended by the fact that VHS even bothers to show up. On the other hand, VHS really gets up for the game, not being expected to win and having nothing to lose. The result is that the game ends up being closer than it probably should be. For example, in 2007, THS was only up by 7 points going into the 4th Quarter. Final score 20-0. Not a close game, but not a blowout. Similarly, the final score in 2008 was THS 28 - VHS 17. The game was played in 85 degree heat and VHS players playing on both sides of the ball started cramping up in the 3rd Quarter. Shepard scored on a long run to put the game away when VHS ran out if steam in the 4th Quarter. I expect that both THS and VHS will be improved this year. It could be a blowout, but only if THS shows up motivated. Based on the comments I have seen on this and other boards, I don't see that happening.
  23. Actually, dropping to Single A might not be as easy as you think. To my knowledge there have been 4 games played between Single A (Clinch Mountain District) and SWD teams this year. VHS, which finished first in the CMD, beat Marion 3-1 and lost to Abingdon 0-4. John Battle, which finished second in the CMD, tied Tazewell 4-4. Gate City, which finished fourth in the CMD, defeated Richlands 4-2.
