I certainly disagree with your assessment of our team. I think Radford maybe talented but somewhat overrated. Giles isn't a typical Giles team. I think being at home is going to make all the difference. This isn't Coach Matlock's first time in the playoffs. He will have his troops ready. Better get there early because Damascus will be rocking! Go Cavs.

I've tried not to say much about this game for personal reasons. I think Matlock leads the charge and Holston wins a barn burner 42-40.

One of the things that is missing in the article is the decline of morality in America. On that note, the lack of a father in the home has really dampened the traditional family threshold. Young men are left struggling for an identity and find themselves lost. Coaches are role models but the young men have to have that initial push to get into competitive sports. The vacuum of a fatherless society results into women letting video games be the babysitter. I will say I was quite offended by the notion that school administrators are "bitter". I work with various ones and the pressure these men are under is nothing to be blown off. Mr. Robbins needs to remember why schools even exist. . . . . . .

Can't say enough about how the Cavs played last night. Great win. Matlock should be coach of the year! Most underrated coach in the state, yet knows how to get the job done. Very proud of our little school getting a big win.

Its been 22 years since a Holston football team has beaten George Wythe but tonight could change that. These seniors know the extreme task at hand and I feel they are up for it. George Wythe has been the king in our district and have a lot of pride. I want to wish Coach Matlock and our team good luck. Go get them guys!

Holston is going to move up. Still have Northwood and Rural Retreat on our schedule. Think we are improving every week. Coach Matlock has us motivated and playing physical ball. He is our leader.

I like when you Abingdon folks have nothing better to do but to chime in on other conversations. Let me answer simply with, who won the game? Also, when was the last time Abingdon Football was relevant?

Not here to argue or start any up roar; needless to say, the two programs have went in different directions. I stand by the Cavs record(s) the last six years. Still feel they have something special in them and this year isn't over. Don't count them out in the post season. No disrespect Bugs Bunny but there is no comparison, I've seen both play this year.

I am not being rude Sir, but calling it like it is. I agree they have improved. But it behooves me to think they are the same caliber of team as Holston. I just think the Holston boys have a mental edge over the rebels. I seen both teams earlier this year and it was night and day.

The Cavs have had a week off to heal up and get back to work. I feel it was much needed for the second part of the season. They will be going to PH this Friday and I feel this is just what the doctor ordered. I think PH is the most overrated 3-2 team in the state. I see the Cavs winning this one 42-6. It used to be a rivalry, but the last couple of years it has been a route. Thoughts?

I think the Battle game isn't that close. I believe the Trojans have something to prove after last year. Chilhowie easily gets Va High, Grayson blows out Lee, Volunteer crushes Falcons, and Patrick Henry loses to Rural Retreat. Thats my take on a few of the games.

I agree with you concerning Marion's rant and quite frankly laugh everytime I see an Hogoheegee team beat them. It is my opinion that they only came down to try to pad their schedule and I have been very outspoken about this issue. On another note, I am sure the PH transfer is a great kid, but wouldn't classify him as a great quarterback. I seen him play earlier this year and well you have to get a snap to play this game called football. In his defense, he doesn't have much help surrounding him. I do, however, wish him the best except against Holston.

They are pitiful. Second worst team in our county besides PH.

This may be one of the more exciting games this week with both teams posting undefeated records. Frankly I have heard good things from friends about Battle of how well they play. I really think this could be slobber knocker. We haven't had to get up for a game yet this year but I foresee Coach Matlock getting our troops ready for this "Battle" (pun intended). I have tremendous respect for Coach Wright and how he has turned it around down there but have to go with my Cavs in a close one 21-17.

I concur with this assessment. PH is not a good team at all, very bad indeed. I don't know how the #1 team could charge admission to see that massacre.

His comments are out of anger. I guess due to the fact we have beat them the last 5 years; not just beat them, but physically control and expose their weaknesses. I guess I too would be counting on Holston to be down in the coming years, but I will take my chances with Matlock at the helm.

Gentleman, you are praising 8th grade football? We have struggled for years on 8th grade but have done well on varsity. Is that what's become of a school with nearly 1,000 students? Tisk, tisk, pitiful. :)
