I could see a 7 point game......just not the 14-21 point game. I also believe that Richlands would pull it out on a dry field since they have more speed IMO , however this game will be played with poor field conditions which I feel plays right into Gate City's hands. It'll be hard to stop that power running game in the mud. It could go either way, and has all the makings to be the game of the year in SWVA.

I hate to bring bad news....but you'll not be able to identify jersey numbers after the first 2 or 3 snaps. If it stopped raining right now, I don't believe they'd get the field in good shape......and It looks like it's going to rain all day/night.

21 point win...14 point win???? Did Richlands bring in a top ranked recruiting class or did Gate City not land any 5 star players from Kingsport this year??.......Just a joke guys, just a joke, lol. I know both teams hear enough of that stuff. But my point is...Gate City defeated Richlands last year....Gate City is pretty much the exact same team, only bigger, faster, and stronger...... I can see Richlands winning a close one, or Gate City winning a close one....but how can you sit here and say Richlands by 2 or 3 touchdowns? Richlands is a year improved, but so are the blue devils. I'm taking Gate City by the score of 14-13 in about 3 ft. of mud at legion field.

Players were notified earlier this week that their football field would be bulldozed the day after graduation. Players were notified that Alpha Natural Resources has donated a check to Coach Ryan Witten and the football program somewhere between the range of $12,000 and $15,000 dollars. The new field will be all bermuda grass.

Those 80 kids in the weightroom have nothing to do with the history of battle football. For that matter, dont assume that I do either. I live here now, and have family playing for Battle. I'm not from battle, and for your information I have 3 state title rings sitting in a case at home....more than the Falcon program has won in their entire history. I know a thing for two about what it takes to win. So does Coach Witten and you'll find that out, soon enough. Just like Jason Witten told them yesterday in the weightroom, they're not responsible for the past. Thats not their weight to carry. They're only responsible for the present and with 85 kids working out everyday, the present is looking pretty good. See you in the Fall.

LOL, is that the athletes that Battle beat by 4 or 5 Touchdowns in JV last season? Or the 8th Graders that Battle beat down by a few TD's? Which up and comers is it? From what I saw, Abingdons best days are behind them.

I believe the score was 52-38 Final. Castlewood trailed by 1 at the half but Madison grabbed a double digit lead by the end of the third and held on for the win. The key stat is that Castlewood had 17 turnovers. Congrats to the bluedevils on a fine season. As for Madison...Considering that they are the worlds finest basketball team *according to their fans*..... it wasn't so easy today was it?

Why get on here running your mouth? Why do you people insist on writing checks that your A** cant cash. You'll not finish in the top 4 of your district....You'll finish the season anywhere from 2-8 to 4-6. 2-8 because I promise, the Battle game will not be an easy win this year if you even do pull it out...and next year, it wont be a win.

she will definatly get involuntary manslaughter..... She could have just as easily stopped the truck. I believe I could have done a better job in wording my post. I had no intent of putting all of the blame on her, or was not trying to accuse her of actually trying to throw him out of the truck. I could have worded that a little better. But she could have pulled the truck over....and she definatly could have stopped the truck after he was threw out of it. She will definatly get involuntary manslaughter, probably reckless driving, and maybe even a hit and run, since she left him at the scene of the accident. she is in some trouble.

What noone is talking about is the fact that his Fiancee threw him out of the truck and left him for dead......She will be charged with manslaughter / hit and run and maybe a few other major charges..... The children will be moving in with grandma and grandpa for awhile because mommy is going to prison. Its very sad for everyone involved but the children will get the worst of it, because they're going to lose their mom and dad. Thoughts and prayers are with the henry family.

I would think that grundy has some kids in the game, but the johnson kid is the starting QB. Maybe Grundy somehow was split up and put on the other team

Here are a few more details.... It will NOT be SWVA vs NETN. The Tennessee schools didnt wish to participate. So they have split SWVA into 2 teams that will play each other this Saturday at Virginia High. The teams are spit up like this ---- Battle, VHS,Lebanon,Marion, Abingdon, Richlands, George Wyth, Chilhowie, Holston and a few other teams. The 2nd team will consist of Gate City, LPD schools, Cumberland district schools and a few others. I do know that the Johnson kid from Richlands is the starting QB, Dock from Va High is the starting Halfback. The coaching staff of this team will be the headcoaches from VA High, Lebanon, Chilhowie and Witten from Battle. Im not sure who will coach the other team. Im guessing it will be Robbins from PV, Houseright from GC, Adams from Burton, and Saylers from JJ. Kelly.

I dont know the entire rosters. I know that a few players from John Battle are playing in it.

it is happening. the players who're playing in the game, already know. coaching staffs have been set, as well as rosters. They've been set for a few weeks now

This game is going to happen. The teams will get 2 days of practice. The game will either be Friday or Saturday. Im not sure which yet. I'll find out more later today. Practices are either wednesday/thursday, or thursday/friday. The game will be at Virginia High
