Very well said HunterCav...I hope the best for him in whatever his choice for the future is.... You brought up a very good point in your post that I would like to elaborate on....These kids have to excel in 3 areas to go to the next level....on the field, in the workout room, AND IN THE CLASSROOM.... It does a kid no good to be the best on the football field to just be told he cant go on because he never concentrated on his grades..... That is why I applaud the work of a number of the athletes in this area that I know of...they have not only excelled on the field..but their dedication to their team development and to their own was unmatched...AND they are very good students as well as community leaders... Instead of trashing the kids that are trying to make a life for themselves...we need to support them...no matter where they are coming from or going to...no matter if its a division 3 school or a division 1 school..they are still getting a college education which will pay more dividends in ones life than anything..

There are at least 2 that will be playing on saturdays next year from GW..Atwell and Lester..one of them if not both in Div. 1 schools...nothing has been made official yet...

Congrats to Holston on its Region C Division 1 Crown...Good luck next week against the JI Burton team...Would love to see you guys in Salem in 2 weeks..

I guess the HOGO isn't as weak as people are making them out to be.... Gonna be an interesting night next week.... Fort Chiswell with and impressive win tonight AT Chlhowie who gave them their only loss this season Rural Retreat at Holston....No matter the outcome...Hogo team gonna be in the finals Radford/Giles winner AT George Wythe....the pride of the almighty three rivers has to come to Wytheville this time..... A rivals page is nothing...Heath Miller didnt have a Rivals Page... I still think the best player in the area is Brandon Atwell ...He carred the ball 6 times last friday night....3 of them were TD's over 45 yards.... He is being recruited heavily.....I may not know much...but someone does to be recruiting him...

Congrats Holston on a very good season...way to cap it off...now get down to business and take care of the playoffs...hopefully we can have a duel tailgate party in Salem in 4 weeks....

Atwell is a threat to score from anywhere on the field as either a RB or a WR...every time he gets the ball...a touchdown is waiting... On defense..I may be wrong..but I think only two receivers he was covering man to man has caught a pass...the rest have either been broken up or intercepted....if they even dare to throw in his direction... In my opinion..He is one of the best if not the best player in SWVA this year.. I dont know about WVA becasue I dont keep up with football over there... From the posts..It sounds like Jake Lilly is the man over there....

Hey Observor...what do you think of the potential of UVA if we would get the coach from Buffalo....I think he would be a GREAT fit at UVA...I know he doesnt have the BIG time college experience...but I think he could really get the job done...

They will be getting a bye unless they dont show up friday night and lose to Northwood.....my best guess...because alot can change next week...but they will play the winner of the #4 and #5 matchup which right now is Giles and Radford....but there is not many points seperating the #3 position and # 6 position so alot can change before seeds are set... GW should hold the #1 seed...#2 seed at worst...which still means they still get the first round bye

I have not seen Jack Lilly play... But I do think Brandon Atwell from GW should be in consideration..... considering he is being looked at by several colleges...some Division I from what I have heard

I am not expecting one Cav86...just wanted to put it out there..... Congrats on last night...I knew you could do it.... It is amazing how kids respond when the go through adversity....After your game with us..I expected them to come back with a purpose and they did... I know I am not gonna get no apologies for the remarks made on this post and the nature of this post...so I guess I wont get any about calling GW an average team that couldnt compete in any of the Region D distircts.... Holston and GW #1 in their respective divisions in Region C is good enough for me.....If we can make it through the playoffs(which I think both teams can)...we will worry about them later.....

So I wonder...Is there gonna be any public apologies for this post....Considering Holston pretty much put all the doubters and haters to rest last night in their Victory over Chilhowie..... Congrats Holston....Very well done....Hope to see you in Salem...

So...in Region D division 1...Thomas Walker with a very low power point total could get in the playoffs above all the other teams if they can beat St. Paul....dang...

I was under the impression that Region C Div I and II were going to the 6 team playoff structure this year...am I correct?

One of 2 things....either a shipwrecked sailor or a runaway slave.....there is a divide on which one is actually depicted by our mascot....but either way....you cant give a response to my post because you know that I am right...you just try to distort the facts and bring AA districts to compare us to....If we had a couple more hundred students to pick from to make our football team...then you are more than welcome to compare us to SWD teams....and I am certain that we would compete very well in the Region D districts you mentioned...and I can speak with some experience...because I am from the Region D area and know the football in that area.....so...with that being said...when your falcons start winning district titles and GW doesnt...when you go to the playoffs 7 out of the last 10 years....and GW doesnt......then you can smack on the Maroons all you want....but untill then...keep it respectfull....if you can

Falcon...why must you keep putting teams in "their" place..... Holston is a good team...they are lacking in size but make up for it in speed and toughness.... As far as your assessment of GW goes...you dont win 18 straight District games, have one of the toughest schedules year in and year out and be considered an average team....With our only single A losses being to Giles and Fort Chiswell....2 of the best teams in Region C...and we beat Floyd, Radford, and Chilhowie...all three in the top of the Region C along with GW...how do you consider GW and "average" team.....

Congrats to GW...the "tough" skin showed....they knew when they had to do it and how to do it last night in the 3rd Quarter...a story that has repeated itself more than once this year for GW... Congrats to Holston...you are a quality team and you should make alot of noise again in Region C Div. 1 playoffs...I hope to see you in Salem with us...
