  1. I have to say I expected to come on here and read a bunch of hate against Abingdon and planned to defend them with stuff like "Hey at least they made it that far" I was at the game vs Hidden Valley and I can say without a doubt what hurt the falcons. Inexperience with the pressure. With a season of games like the one against tazewell winning by 40 points, the falcons rarely were pressured. I was nervous sitting in the stands for the boys I know they were nervous as well. Josh, the freshman, showed his nerves a lot by forgetting to pass the ball. He tried to take on 3 guys instead of passing it out to the two open shooters and took some almost impossible shots himself. The falcons played hard, but in the end it was their nerves and the pressure that got them...I believe that without a shadow of a doubt. Congrats guys, you'll get your chance to try again! But Hoorah for how far you did go! And thank you SWD for your support of those players, they deserve it!
  2. Red flag, "From Wikipedia" That won't hold up in any argument kid. And if you aren't making excuses what are you doing? Sit down and be quiet, you are just another Richlands player, PROBABLY NOT EVEN FROM RICHLANDS, whining because you let football season get to your head. And yes, you are making excuses and taking your excuse waaaaay too far.
  3. Maybe the canes kid should try actually attending games before he starts talking like he knew what went on. Had he gone he would be congratulating the Falcons for winning tonight against the ref in the Nikes! The man walked over and put his arm around a Salem player and started patting him on the back as he whispered in his ear, not long after he shook hands with and patted the Salem Coach. The Falcon crowd went WILD with rage! This is not the first time I've seen that ref call the game against Abingdon and with some of the calls made tonight, such as the 6 man team Salem who GOT AWAY WITH HAVING 6 PLAYERS ON THE COURT AFTER THE REF WHISTLED THE BALL IN PLAY! Or maybe Canes is that ref, because several nights that man has seemed to have something against Abingdon. WAY TO GO FALCONS THAT WAS AN AWESOME PERFORMANCE! Be proud of yourselves and hold your heads high. As the CC coach was quoted, your strength is in your intelligence, so keep a calm level head through the rest of this season, and play it 32 minutes at a time! You boys have the potential to take this one all the way!
  4. Yes Steven is the starter, but Josh is the better baller. Josh gets more playing time than Steven, or at least he has the first two games. Whoever says Josh can't play, I dare you to put your best player up against him. See who outscores who. When Josh makes a shot, I'm not exaggerating, the entire Abingdon team and all the fans stand up to be ready to scream for the 2-3 points he just put up on the board.
  5. Yeah Jake is awesome, ever since I played football in recess with him I thought he was a awesome player. Now he is getting recognition for it, making the Wachovia player of the week and he just recently won another player of the week I believe, it may have been more than just the week I'm really not sure yet. But he is one of the best Abingdon players on the field and on the court. As coach John Bowles said, Most quarterbacks play as a sergeant or a major, but Jake plays like a General. He knows every aspect of the game and knows what everybody needs to be doing in every play and if they are doing it right. You will enjoy having him on a team with you! Best part about him is despite all he has earned, none of it goes to his head. He still treats every person the same, prep or the kid hiding behind the vending machines so nobody sees him. Nine times out of ten Jake is the guy who will go to that kid and try to make them feel more confident. That is the way his mom taught him to be as a person, and he plays like his dad taught him to be as a player.
  6. CC did play pretty good; they made several tough shots, as did Abingdon. The difference was Abingdon didn't put their focus on two or three players, the ball went to every falcon that stepped on the court which shows they play as a team not as a player despite having Jacob Hess, his brother Josh, Ben Coleman, Alex Looney, Zach Viers and everyone else on the team. One word of advise to any team to go against CC at a home game, watch their refs! Way too many missed calls throughout the game and one time Abingdon's Looney took an elbow to the face and somehow that counted as a foul against him where the Cavs got two shots??? Still unsure of how this happened...wish I knew all you had to do was elbow the other guy in the face to get 2 shots at the line when I used to play....But in the end the Cavs can't help what their refs do or don't call in a game. As I said both teams made some tough shots, the cavs just need to learn to move the ball a little more. As for their player with the knee injuries, I don't know what his injuries were but I noticed several times his knees were bothering him even in warm ups and he had braces on them. I just wanted to say he is a true player and seemed to fight any pain he had and put some real points on the board for the Cavs. They seem to have a really good coach as he constantly kept checking up on him throughout the game. Good luck to the cavs in the rest of their season, and to the falcons, keep flying until you cant fly any more!
  7. We'll see how many years it takes Battle to reach that bar. Probably not in my lifetime kid haha.
  8. Just curious, uh why did your team try to recruit Abingdon's QB and I think one or two more of their seniors? You know, just curious. To me the difference in a good team and a bad team is the will of the players and then their skill. Abingdon really seemed to show a lack of will in some games. I think that was one of their biggest weaknesses, no heart in the game. But they obviously were not lacking skill. Anyone can go out recruiting players for their team and win games. If you don't have a winning streak afterwards, I'm sorry but you are a joke. RICHLANDS doesn't have a team bud. They have a group of boys they have recruited from other schools or at least tried to. When you can come out on to the field with a team made of all RICHLANDS natives I'll give you a second glance, after all this is HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL. It's not like you get a Super Bowl Ring and a big deal for a state trophy. You get just that, a trophy to get old and dusty and everyone to ignore as they pass it by in the halls. High School is about the fun of the game while you can still enjoy it. College is where you recruit, and it's where it becomes more than just a game if you want to make football your living. If you are obsessed enough at this stage to go out trying to recruit people you have no life, and you probably need to get laid or something. Seriously, it isn't impressive. It's pathetic. And the fact that you brag about yourselves gives me a better laugh than Jackass in 3D!
  9. And don't forget the field conditions that night. It was snowing and the field had an inch or so of water on it in spots, enough to make some sloppy snaps and lose some footing. Had the conditions been better the score would've been more than a 1 point win.
  10. Well from the sidelines I got kinda ticked off with CC never kicking the ball off. All they kicked were squibs and onside kicks. Cheap way to play if you ask me.
