I can see your point, and its legitimate BUT Lee has yet to win a big game(other than last week). I think it would help the team to make it a few rounds deep, get some wins, and gain some confidence before playing a team of Giles caliber

I was all about the mascot being Trailblazers (with a plaque in the school supporting Colley and Mullins the 2 earliest settlers in the area, Colley Haysi area and Mullins Clintwood area). No one seemed to like that. 
 
The School Board didnt want to call it Dickenson County High because everyone would refer to it as Dick. High(thats really the reason). Ridgeview is generic but its ok. Personally I like Pine View(Pine Mtn is out behind the school), Apex or Pinnacle but whatever. I also liked just calling it DC(for Dickenson County) but that wasnt popular either.

The amount of acreage to adequately build a new school is vastly different than the acreage required to adequately build a new school.  The guidelines and regulations in place provide for some pretty intense design constraints. One such constraint is access to campus.  Two distinct entrances and exits are required for any new school construction leading to two different parts of campus.  It is preferred those access points lead to two different highways but that is not always feasible.  
 
The state and federal governments also have minimum standards that must be met for such things as stormwater collection, sewage collection, public water, communications, condition of maintained highways, parking, lighting, vegetation, landscaping, and the list goes on and on and on.
 
The new stormwater regulations that went into effect July 1st would add several acres to any site development project.  The larger the site being developed, the more acreage would be needed to comply.  If public access facilities would be required such as football stadiums, baseball fields, gyms or auditoriums, they would be required to have separate parking and access points than the general student body.  Many of these regulations can be seen in the photo on the Dickenson County Public Schools website.

Notice the parking facilities removed from the main school buildings serving the athletic fields, distinctly different access points behind and in front of the school and the stormwater detention pond above the baseball field.

I just heard from a very reliable source(Southy) that the reason the game is being played on Friday is the Abingdon fans didnt want to have to choose between Football and Saturday brunch at the Martha Washington(obviously brunch would have taken precedent)

I don't know what the complaining is all about, the Richlands kids seemed to enjoy it as much as the Grundy kids did last night...I know when I played, I would have loved it. They were sliding around in it after the game.

Lets look at Honakers  schedule; Lebanon, Eastside, Central, TV, Battle, Clintwood, Castlewood, Hurley and Grundy. Lebanon is decent, Clintwood is solid, Central is solid. 
 
Non common opponents
Orange - Lebanon, Eastside, Battle, Central
 
Red - Tug Valley, Twin Springs, Thomas Walker, Harlan. 
 
Haysis schedule is just as tough as Honakers. Neither are what I would call tough

Marion never played Clintwood. But I would be careful taking a stab at Clintwood, Go collect the state titles Clintwood has on display and then go be happy and merry. Then again Abingdon winning a State Title in Football will never happen.

As for Clintwood vs Central I honistly think Clintwood is the better team IMHO if they were to replay there 3 losses right now they beat Union hands down and at the very least put the fear of God into Haysi and Honaker.
 
That being said Central will be the best team Clintwood have seen since Honaker while the 2nd half of Centrals season has been tough as nails which can eaither make a team Much tougher or wear them down both physacly and emotionaly
 
A win Over Central Gives Clintwood a home playoff game and quite possably sets them up for a 2nd round rematch with Haysi which would give Clintwood 1 more chance to get the final win of the series ;)

Thanks. Im going to try to do 5 games each week with at least 1 team from each district for variety. Im sorry about clintwood and honaker, should've done that one. Im going for humor with a touch of old school style.

i understand,,,, by the way....got my brother, who hadn't been to a (haysi -clintwood) football game  since 1975...to watch the wave and tiger game....bought him a good looking haysi cap,..he sat on clintwoods side with me, man oh man, he like to beat me to death. i said if wave won, he didn't owe me for cap........but if wave lost,  he'd have to pay..........guess i lost 16.95.....still hasn't paid me ....lol.... family,,,, gotta love them......

hurleys win over grundy, is a  boost to them, shelby valley has the size, and numbers, and awsome field, having a win over grundy...hurley will come in with a boat load of confidence.....wouldn't be supprised at a rebel win......

now my friend may think, i miss lead him a bit,,,, but i'm sitckin buy my post....haysi is coming to ralphs house, lookin to put a hurtin...on the wave , they return a load of  starters  8 and 8 if i'm not mistaken,,  clintwood  has a few returning...course #5 is there, but he cannot do it alll...it could go either way....blow out.... or close  one.... its hard  to,  compete, against someone you are gonna PLAY with, next year....just my thinking of course.... when the whistle blows... for kick off.... all consolidation is not even a thought......... going to be a head knocker..... ...
