I Don't like the use of this new name, being from Richlands it seems they could have been a bit more unique to me, but that is simply my opinion, it seems to me to infringe a bit on something Richlands has already been doing for years.

I like the picking Richlands to finish 3rd, it will be good bulletin board material, while they did lose a lot Abingdon has to come here this year... so that means you guys can't get your usual home cooking, and I still think its a pipe dream that it isn't gonna end up being Richlands again in the SWD this year.Edited this post, got my years crossed up and indeed CC is an away game this year.

I really hope the NFL eats a HUGE loss once football does resume, but more than likely everyone will head right back to the stadiums and all will be forgotten.

Richlands High School is indeed within Cedar Bluff limits. While I'm sure I'm not close enough to the situation to know all the details it seems be bickering over money and such as to why Cedar Bluff wants to continue as their own town.. and mostly foolish pride, I won't ramble on about it as I did before you can tell what I think by my previous post.

I see your point Lance, what I have actually said for a couple years now is that if Cedar Bluff and Claypool Hill don't wish to " be a part of Richlands" then they should provide their own services and take care of themselves, of course in this time of political correctness this will never happen, it just annoys me when these guys stand there with their hands out and then shun "belonging" to the ones that actually help take care of their problems. Get with the program or get out I say.

As a resident of Richlands, they already provide most of the basic services (Ambulance Etc.) to the area, so I don't really see where it will change anything much for those that already live in Richlands, I have read that taxes are actually higher in the proposed areas than they will be if/when this happens.The biggest holdup is delusional Cedar Bluff residents that seem to think they should get to annex that area when they provide NOTHING for themselves and already live off of the areas around them.Of course where there is potential money involved.. people want to get their hands in the cookie jar. I have family that lives in Cedar Bluff that want in annexed so it isnt all residents there, just the few that unfortunately hold all the authority.

Last time I looked Bluefield was a multiple time state champion in WV so apparently they are one of the better programs in the state, at least in their region/etc. And I see no reason why Richlands would need or want to run all over WV to find the better teams in the state. Once again I don't think they have to prove anything to teams from a state they aren't even located in, but that is just my opinion.

What is it that Richlands or Tazewell really gain by playing "West Virginia" schools? I keep seeing this pop up here and there and frankly I think that overall high school football in West Virginia just isn't that great as far as overall competition goes.It may not be the case in this particular thread but it seems a lot of people from the bluefield area seem to think that Richlands needs to play/beat Bluefield to prove some point or whatever, as I remember the last time that vaunted Bluefield team came to the Hicks they had to have a BS PI call that set them up for a last second field goal to sneak out with a "victory".

I can't help but jump in at this point.. why is it "ok" for people to accuse Richlands Football of "recruiting" and all but it isn't ok for anyone to look at your program/school with a little doubt as to their complete honesty? On a bit of another note I have also read on several of the basketball threads where people have stated that it isn't "running up the score" and if they " aren't good enough they shouldn't be on the court".. that is all fine and dandy, I trust that I wont see anyone complaining about Richlands "running up the score" once football season rolls back around, after all what goes around comes around.

Richlands is 3-1 now, not counting the tourney at the beginning of the season which I have been told were basically "scrimmage" games, anyhow, not sure about anyone else's JV teams.
