  1. So let's recap the last month. GC fans post positively about their team. People get mad saying we called GC "God's gift to SWVA basketball." GC fan posts something negative about their team and gets told to "STHU." Go ahead and do what you want and make it a SWD board. Just be honest about it and say you don't want GC fans here. That's fine. I'm with Quincy, I'll ban myself.
  2. Think that GC girls could tie Union for the 2nd seed with a win at Lebanon. On the boys side GC and Union both have 10 points if my table from the "Dumb Question" thread was accurate. I would think that GC would have tiebreaker but I'm really not sure.
  3. My goodness man no need to be so hostile. It's basketball.
  4. Wow. Here I thought the CMC system was confusing. Congrats to the G'Men though. I'm hoping down the road we're lucky enough to get a rematch from last year.
  5. Every win is one "point." Lebanon is worth two for everyone who only plays them once (Battle being the lone exception). A GC win vs Lebanon clinches it outright and a win tomorrow vs Battle would tie Union. Not sure of the tiebreaker but if it's head to head or conference record GC has it.
  6. Union beats Central tonight. Current CMC Boys standings: Con OvAll Pts. Union 9-2 18-4 10 GC 9-0 16-4 9 Leb 4-2 8-13 7 Battle 6-5 13-6 6 RV 4-6 13-8 4 Lee 2-8 7-13 2 Cent. 0-11 3-19 0 CMC Girls Standings: Con OvAll Pts. RV 9-1 18-2 10 Union 8-3 15-7 9 Cent. 7-4 12-9 7 GC 6-3 13-7 6 Lee 3-7 9-12 4 Battle 2-9 6-12 2 Leb 0-7 5-15 0
  7. I went ahead and made a table for the girls. As of 2/11: Con OvAll Pts. RV 9-1 18-2 10 Union 6-3 13-7 7 GC 6-3 13-7 6 Cent. 6-4 11-8 6 Lee 3-6 9-11 4 Battle 2-9 6-12 2 Leb 0-6 5-14 0
  8. For the CMC the tourneys are at the #1 seeds. Girls at RV and boys at either GC or Union. They'll be next week unless the weather messes with the schedule. Not sure about this but the girls may be Monday-Wednesday-Friday and boys on Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday. Think that was the plan last year before the snow put everything on hold for a week or two.
  9. You da man Ryan! GC comes out to Hell's Bells by I've always been kind of fond to For Whom the Bell Tolls also.
  10. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but as of 2/11 it should look like this: Con OvAll Pts. GC 9-0 16-4 9 Union 7-2 16-4 8 Battle 6-5 13-6 6 Leb 3-2 7-13 5 RV 4-6 13-8 4 Lee 2-7 7-12 2 Cent. 0-9 3-17 0 This system is kind of confusing but I guess it's the best way to handle Lebanon not being in the MD. GC plays Lebanon Friday and JSB Saturday. GC clinches the CMC with a win at Lebanon. One tiebreaker scenario being if GC loses at Lebanon and beats JSB, while Union beats Lee and Central.
  11. Switching gears back to the game, it sounded like a really good one. Richlands has had a brutal schedule here at the end of the season, so the fact that they continue to play at a high level bodes well for them over the upcoming weeks. Despite not beating Union in one of these match ups, they solidified their spot in my eyes as one of the teams around here with the talent to make a serious run. There were a lot of fouls called in this game, and I think I remember that Noaks, Mitchell, and Ball all had four fouls beSore the end of the third quarter. Could someone say if it a pretty well called game or did the officials just not let them play?
  12. Legion is legitimately 5000, I have serious doubts about the gym having 2000 though.
  13. Great stuff Ryan! Very impressive!
  14. Ridgeview girls picked up another convincing win tonight against Lee. The Wolfpack have to be sitting in the drivers seat to get that automatic bid to the region tourney.
  15. Personally, I don't want to comment unless I have at least seen the team that I'm talking about play. That's the only way I feel like I can fairly make a comment. I have seen every team in the MD, and a lot in NETN. Unfortunately, there's not a ton of comments on here from other fans from schools in the MD.
  16. Went back and re-read all of these threads. I believe the only person that said that GC is currently the best in SWVA was swva_havoc_fan, who is a fan of Ridgeview. In fact, myself and RiverRat have been pretty critical of GC's play this year. If you don't like us that's fine. If you don't want us to discuss our school's basketball team on this forum, that's fine too. But putting words in people's mouths is pretty sad. Most of the back and forth regarding GC on here was over Coach Vermillion's body of work, which is ridiculous. I get that you all are upset that people are overlooking Graham. You should be upset, because you guys have a heck of a program. You all had a young team that nearly knocked us off in Wise a few years ago, and then beat us down pretty bad last March. Trust me, every GC fan respects Graham's athletic programs. This is the reason why I hate individuals releasing their own rankings. It always ends up offending someone.
  17. Yup you're right. Guess it's back to talking about the Dream Team.
  18. Cmon Stripes you know better than to use common sense on the message board! We need constant knee jerk reactions and the same BS over and over. As River said earlier, the only time I feel GC choked in Richmond was 07 vs Clarke. In 12 (I think) we beat VHS 3 times and laid an egg in the Region semis. That's the only two times I can remember ending the season thinking we had the better team.
  19. Knew a letdown was coming after the emotional OT win and playing three games in four days. However, I never imagined this would happen. This was a pretty painful game to watch. At least GC now gets some much needed rest.
  20. Quincy you ok man haha? Officials certainly weren't their best last night but what's done is done. GC and Union both have to put it behind them and hopefully Feb 9th is another big game. And Visor Boy is kind of an inside joke. It involves an incident in 2014 where a guy from Union tried to charge up the bleachers to get to a bunch of GC fans.
  21. GC didn't play their best in the second half but big time players make big plays and Mac McClung is a big time player. GC opened up a 12 point lead at the half on hot shooting by Barnes. Second half offense was a struggle and allowed Union back in it. GC gave Union a chance for the tie at the end of regulation by continuing to attack the rim. Noaks took it and banked in a 3. Mac missed a crucial FT that could've helped guarantee at least 2 OT, but got the last laugh on the game winner. Qualls had a good game for GC and after struggling through the first half, Ervin made some big plays in the 2nd. Noaks led Union and Slagle and #4 (sorry I'm spacing on the name) hit big shots for the Bears. What an atmosphere in Big Stone tonight.
  22. Oh man I love this guy. Should be a couple of good games tonight though. The boys played awful in Big Stone last year before beating Union the next two times. Hopefully GC comes ready tonight, because if they don't they'll leave with a L. The team that loses tonight is definitely not out of the race for the region bid. Not only do GC and Union have to play again, but Ridgeview and JSB have shown the potential to beat anyone. As for the JV, GC has beaten DB, Boone, East, Sullivsn Central, and South. Lost by 3 in OT @ DB.
  23. Six 8th Graders, Two Freshmen, and Three Sophomores.
  24. No, she hurt her knee at Wise last week. Hoping she gets back before her senior season ends.
  25. RiverRat you're exactly right. When GC is playing at the top of their game, I honestly believe they can beat anyone in SWVA and would be a tough out up the road. However, GC has a lot of breakdowns, especially on the defensive end. Still have a ways to go before being ready for tourney time. Tonight was a good showing with noticeable improvement though.
