parsons 178 Report Share Posted July 7, 2005 excellent point...apparently some people on here think that a kid improving his prospects in life by holding back (even though its legal) is a terrible thing. How many times does the fact that age is regulated have to be pointed out???
hhstigerfan 12 Report Share Posted July 7, 2005 And its not like they get any extra playing time in the varsity level. Hold backs have 8 semesters of eligibility same as everyone else.

BigD4VT 11 Report Share Posted July 7, 2005 [ QUOTE ] apparently some people on here think that a kid improving his prospects in life by holding back (even though its legal) is a terrible thing. Â [/ QUOTE ] I'd need to see evidence that holding a player back for athletic reasons improves his prospects in life.
clodhopper 10 Report Share Posted July 8, 2005 It does'nt take long to tell the schools that holdback for athletics and the ones that don't just by reading this board. Anyone can justify anything in their own mind but that still does'nt make it right. This debate could go on forever and not change anybody's mind, especially the people from the communities where the holdback practice is common, they've already justified it in their own minds. zach 10 Report Share Posted July 8, 2005 You can not find a team without at least one holdback. Every town has some, because parents think it gives their son/daugter an "edge" and it will help them get scholarships. But shouldn't they realize maybe their child isn't good enough? But at the end it comes down to what the student and their parents think, not what society will "look" at them
