tornado99 345 Report Share Posted October 19, 2005 I know that automatic seeds go to district champions with at-large bids being decided according to the VHSL rating points. My question is do the district champs still get the top seeds and home-field as in the past, or is the seedings based solely on the rating points. I thought I remembered the rule change last year to emphasize the rating points, but I'm not for sure. Thanks in advance.
bluekick 11 Report Share Posted October 19, 2005 Seeding is based on points. For example, last year Grundy was first seed and hosted Highlands District champ VA High.
GMan 3,569 Report Share Posted October 19, 2005 Correct...seedings are based on VHSL ratings only. Winning your district only gets you in the playoffs now...no other benefits.
tornado99 345 Author Report Share Posted October 20, 2005 Thanks GMan...I started second-guessing myself for some reason. I like the fact that Richlands gets to play Tazewell or Graham again in the playoffs, but I think I'll miss getting to root for two teams during the playoffs. BigD4VT 11 Report Share Posted October 21, 2005 I don't like playing the same team twice. It's hard enough to beat a team once. That should be enough. I also enjoy the playoffs and like to see teams like Magna Vista and Bassett.
Bulldogs52 484 Report Share Posted October 21, 2005 Ok i kinda figure that was what you where talking about. Because if you think about it graham vs tazewell and richlands vs tazewell could have went anyway!!! More graham vs tazewell then the other. But i understand ya man. but good luck to all that make the playoffs!!

old_school_blue 247 Report Share Posted October 21, 2005 I agree with you Big D, it is hard to beat a team twice in one season. The only positive is if Tazewell and Graham play each other in the first round. That way we may only face one of them and not both, if we can take care of business ourselves.
