VT v. Clemson--crossroads for the Hokies...

Recommended Posts

"Will get some snaps" is exactly what Beamer said before the disaster a few years ago when he alternated Randall and Vick. Two headed quarterbacks do not work. Competition at that position is for spring practice, not mid-season. If they want to see what Ike can do then name him the starter.

clemson is over rated

Apparently you haven't watched Clemson play this season. They have an outstanding team and are very good both offensively and defensively. When you consider they've played without their two starting LBs the entire season, their best receiver for a number of games, and some other starters here and there it's scary how good they've been. Look at the NCAA stats, they're rated in the top 15 in 10 of 14 offensive and defensive categories. They are suspect in the kicking game and special teams overall, however, which is why they have the single loss they do.

tech will play a new qb this week, make up for the weak o line

Most people just don't get it. As BigD pointed out, a new QB won't do anything when the offensive line is a bad as it is now. This offensive line would make Michael Vick look bad. Yes, Whitaker can scramble, but he needs time to even be capable of doing that. You cannot scramble when the defense is in your face as soon as the ball is snapped. Clemson is going to blitz most, if not all downs tomorrow night b/c they've seen what GT and BC did doing such. Every team VT plays from here on out is going to blitz and blitz and blitz some more. The Hokies saving grace is that they've got Kent State left on the schedule, which will allow them to get 6 wins and become bowl eligible.

If the O doesn't step up it might be out of reach early, no matter how good the D and the atmosphere on Thursday will be, the Offense has to produce, which they haven't did against a good team.

The best QB in the world won't make up for a weak o-line. I'm afraid Tech won't win another game this year against any team with a decent defense.

Ike Whitaker and Sean Glennon are too very different people. Glennon is very tall and slow and their O-line must not be too weak if Brandon Ore can rush for over 200 yards behind them.

anybody got the weather report???

As I topped the hill into Christiansburg on 81 coming from Roanoke about 20 minutes ago it began to rain. However, it has since stopped and is currently overcast as it has been most of the day.

Win or lose, games like tonight are the absolutely best to attend in person. It's fun going to a game knowing that a top rated team is coming to town and your team has a chance to make a statement on national T.V. The atmosphere and intensity of Lane is 10-fold that of when a cupcake comes to town and you're expected to win. The house will be jumping and rocking tonight. I just hope it's as rockin' at the end as it is at the beginning.
