hokie07 11 Report Share Posted December 8, 2007 Congratulations on a great season. You all proved many people in the state wrong and made a great title run, despite losing so many seniors last year. Your hard work will not be overlooked even though you all did not come out on top. Going to the state championship 3 years in a row is a great accomplishment! It is great to see the dominance that both Richlands and Bluefield show at the state level, year in and year out. That says a little something about the quality of football that is played down here. Guest BEAVERTAIL Report Share Posted December 8, 2007 Agreed. This Richlands team just ran into a brick wall today, but they should not put their heads down. Congrats on the season, you have done more than most...

Deleted Account 5,203 Report Share Posted December 8, 2007 Indeed. It was a fantastic season: nothing to hang your heads about. From someone who's seen Monticello, they were a fantastic team; absolutely no shame in a loss. 3 state title games in as many years is something to be very proud of. Congratulations, Richlands! Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted December 8, 2007 Richlands has nothing to be ashamed of. They had another fine season and trip to the state finals. It just wasn't their day, Monticello is a good football team and got most of the breaks.
ghs84 10 Report Share Posted December 8, 2007 listen to some of the game and the Richlands announcers said that monticello had mostly JR.s on starting offense.
Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted December 8, 2007 The receiver for Monticello, #5 Lieb, was a man amongst boys today. No disrespect intended, but he ate #12 for Richlands up the entire afternoon. He made it look easy out there...

Everytime we ran the ball I looked like we had a wide open hole, then all of a sudden it was closed... it was like that all day.

thundercloud 179 Report Share Posted December 10, 2007 Hats off to them Blues. This great run has been fun. The great thing about facing tough completition is you learn from it. If not mistaken this coach was at Tulane same time as Rich Rodriguez and Shaun King.

cowboy8 10 Report Share Posted December 10, 2007 The Richlands coaching staff, players, and community have put on a "success" clinic over the past four or five seasons. They have earned it by very hard work, and not just talent. In this area (except for Beaver) it is never news when RHS wins - that has become expected. Monticello, and big teams like them, are the kind of teams Richlands should probably play most of the time but there are not many around here. Both Tazewell and Graham, for instance, should probably be "A" schools. The Blues are on an island. As long as this coaching staff stays together, Richlands stays in the SWD, and the support remains strong, don't expect many down seasons. RHS is too solid for most area teams to ever handle. thundercloud 179 Report Share Posted December 11, 2007 Actually Monticello probaly should be D-4. Their bigger than Abingdon and Christiansburg.
