I totally agree... Shaun is one of the best athletes in the area....however he is very humble and will be ok overall. I am sure that coaches on the next level have and or will recognize his effort and award him accordingly. God Bless The Bluefield Beavers.

This is completely rediculous. I am not only angry with Shaun not being selected, but not one of James Monroe's linemen were on the first team?! I saw them play twice and they were all very, very good. Who votes on this all-state bull? I might need to sit down and have a talk with em.

Alo, congrats to Will Cole on his 2nd team selection.

and no mention at all of aaron bowes, moose miller, or chase joyner. whats up with that. Just like every thing in wv high school sports, crooked.

and another thing, brandon harris was selected first team defensive line. this should have been offensive line, he didnt even start on defense though he saw alot of playing time.

thats exactly what i said about brandon... these people know nothing.

however, i do agree with jordan roberts as a utility player cause he wasnt really a rb in that offense.

Brandon Harris didnt really even see that much time on D. I cant believe he got 1st team D line.

and how in the world did no James Monroe lineman get first team? that is crazy. I agree about Brooks too. He definitely should have gotten first team defense and maybe even offense. Think about it, he had less yards that those others, but consider how many carries he got. He averages about 130 a game and that was on maybe 11 carries.

Not only did Brooks obviously get snubbed for Bluefield, but how about the QB? Few on hear hate Bluefield as much as me, but dang, the championship MVP on 2nd string, and the 1st team QB, well, all I have to say to that is 0-26 to Magnolia in the first round, and 4 INTS against James Monroe. I guess is Cole had to play against teams like Summers, Webster and Man he'd be on 1st team.

The big thing I hate about this list is that every year this is the award for teams that have weak schedules. Not to say that Thad Grogg or any one else didn't work hard, but IMO Bluefield, James Monroe, Wayne, and Magnolia should've made up 75-80 % of the list.

Brooks was the Championship MVP, not Cole...

I think he was just trying to say that Will Cole is better than the Grogg kid from Wyoming East. Is he the real deal? Being a sophmore on the first team all state list is saying a lot. But did he deserve it?

Really dont get me started on Shaun. But will might have had fewer yards but does Wyoming East even play anybody?

[/ QUOTE ]

exactly. and its not even that. we won state and will had more touchdowns. you can have all the yards you want (granted it was only 100 more) but if you dont score points, what does it matter?

Thats just like the first time we played Scoot this year. Roberts had all of those yards but we still managed to keep him out of the endzone most of the time. So i agree. Yards mean nothing without points.

first off i believe Grogg didnt even play the Magnolia game. From the highlights i saw from the magnolia game it was cory williard. but anyways, he still plays in an offense where it is prodominantly passing because his daddy wants his son to be seen. He is a good Qb from what i hear, but not the best in AA.

As for the weak schedules, i agree completely. I mean people who do these things should take into account what people did against better teams (robertson 300+ yards against scott, ansel ponder 10 catches 110 yards against WC). And the same would then be true for Grogg, as im sure his stats would change...

Leaving Brooks and Bowes off the 1st team defense is criminal. Those two kids dominated all season long just aak anyone of the 13 opponents Bluefild played.

Someone was really asleep at the switch....the so-called sportswriters in this state should be ashamed of themselves right now.

I can see that Bowes didnt get first team. I dont think he in any way deserved first team honors the way Brooks did. Brooks dominated each game this year. If Jake Lilly got first team honors, Brooks should have too. Our three inner linebackers were nasty. Brooks, Lilly and Wassum lead each game in tackles.

The REASON the linebackers lead in tackles was that the nose guard (Bowes) was a beast up front. With his quickness, he caused bad snaps and was a concern for both guards and center all year long, leaving the backers free to find the ball and make the play.

He was robbed by not making the first team D-line, plain and simple.
