Ryan4VT 4,557 Report Share Posted January 8, 2009 Saw this on another site and thought it was intresting. Good way to find new music. Put your iTunes or iPod or mucic device on shuffle and post the first 10 songs that come up and a description of why its on there. Amerika- Rammstein Found this by accident but have since fell in love with the band. They're German, but it's ok. Panic Attack- Dream Theater Heard the song on Rockband 2. It's an ok song. Iris- Motionless In White Cover of the song by the Goo Goo Dolls by a screamo band. One of my favorite songs and one of my favorite bands so it just clicked. For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)- AC/DC My favorite song by my favorite band. Saw them in Charlotte last month and it was the loudest thing I've ever experienced. Its like 5 Lane Stadiums put together. Feel Good Drag- Anberlin Love the band. First single off new album New Surrender. Going to see them tomorrow in Asheville, NC. Cant wait. Crushcrushcrush- Paramore I think Hayley (the lead singer) Is the hottest thing I've ever laid eyes on. Plus I like the music. Super nice band. Met them at Warped tour a few years ago. Chokechain- 3oh!3 Prounced Three Oh Three for the area code of Denver. White boy rap. Found them at Warped tour. Cant get enough of their music. Simple Man- Deftones A cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd's Simple Man. I like this version better. Not taking anything away from LS. Apology- Alesana Another band I found at Warped. I have since met the band twice and have a pick and drumstick from them. They are some of the coolest guys I've ever met. Rock N' Roll Train- AC/DC 2nd best song off Black Ice behind Stormy May Day. Your turn. Don't lie and be honest.

GMan 3,569 Report Share Posted January 10, 2009 1) Supersitition - Stevie Ray Vaughan...Remake of Stevie Wonder's 1973 hit by the greatest guitar player ever in my opinion. Was introduced to and got hooked on his music while I was in school at VT. The guy that lived across the hall from me was a great guitar player and always listened to and played SRV's music. 2) Ah! Leah! - Donnie Iris...Was always one of my favorite songs when it came out in 1980...one of the classic songs about a boy's infatuation with a girl and a relationship that is so good that its bad. 3) Start Me Up - The Rolling Stones...its the Stones, is there any other reason??? Released in 1981, reminds me of my freshman year of high school. 4) Shine Down - Godsmack...Released in 2006, its one of my favorite metal songs with hard driving guitars and great vocals. 5) The Boys Are Back In Town - Thin Lizzy...Classic rock at its best, released in 1976, reminds me of my childhood days at Harmony Acres swimming pool and this song blaring from the loud speaker affixed atop the high dive. 6) Livin' On The Edge - Aerosmith...C'mon, its Aerosmith! Released in 1994, great new music from a classic rock band...extremely powerful lyrics... 7) Surrender - Cheap Trick...Released in 1978, I was always a Cheap Trick fan as a kid. Another song that reminds me of haning out at the pool during the summer. 8) Renegade - Styx...OK, have you figured out I'm a classic rock junkie??? Another song that came out in 1978...not sure what it was about '78 but it was definitely a "formative year" in my musical taste. Another one of those summertime/swimming pool songs... 9) Mountain Song - Jane's Addiciton...Another song from my college days. Released in 1988, this was Jane's Addicition's first big hit. Led by Perry Farrell (Porno For Pyros, Lollapalooza creator) and Dave Navarro (Red Hot Chili Peppers, married Carmen Electra, MTV star), they were one of the first "alternative" groups to emerge into mainstream music. 10) Outside - Staind (Aaron Lewis and Fred Durst)...Off of Staind's 2001 "Break The Cycle" CD, combined two great singers, accoustic guitars, and deep reaching lyrics to make for one of the most underrated songs ever. Hacker 82 Report Share Posted January 10, 2009 1) London Calling - The Clash....once called "the only band that really mattered'. Off the album by the same name. 2) Learning the Game - Los Super Seven.... Texas studio musicians who record together with the help of their friends. This one is from "Heard it on the X", a tribute to a radio station that broadcast out of Mexico and played all kinds of music in the '50's and '60's. 3) Down in the Hole - Jason Isabell.... formerly a member of the Drive by Truckers. Songs about living on the edge, rural America. 4) White Bird - Sam Bush... a remake of a late '60's tune by one of the masters of Bluegrass. 5) Lisa's Birthday - Drive by Truckers... new southern rock with an attitude. 6) Grapefruit/Juicy Fruit - Jimmy Buffett.... from the early '70's, a little tune about being a teenager in a more innocent time. 7) The Great Compromise - John Prine.... from the early 70's also a great singer songwriter at the height of his powers. The first next Bob Dylan. A song about a poor schmuck whose girlfriend dumps him. 8) I Will Follow You Into the Dark - Death Cab for Cutie.... Ben Gibbard, one of the best songwriters today singing an writing about a love so strong that it would lead you to follow to the grave. 9) 25 Minutes to Go - Johnny Cash... Johnny singing about a guys last minutes before he goes to the gallows. 10) Shipbuilding - Elvis Costello.... Elvis songs cover the range of life and living. This one from the '80's is a lament on a dying industry and how false hopes and dreams balance against the reality of the loss of a way of life. trublue 939 Report Share Posted January 10, 2009 Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd. gotta love any Pink Floyd songs. Money - Pink Floyd. once again, gotta love Pink Floyd . Saw the Pink Floyd Division Bell World Tour in Bobby Dodd Stadium at GA Tech in 1994. "Money" was the crowd favorite....and the acoustics were GREAT. The huge tower speakers had big pigs on top of them. (53 trucks were used to transport the equipment) To "fess up" I wasn't a big PF fan....I went w/spouse and co-workers. Found the following excerpt about the tour: "Division Bell" tour was one of the first occasions where the Turbosound Flashlight system was used on a full-scale stadium production, on this occasion delivering no less than 232,000 Watts of unbridled music power. Rarely does a rock'n'roll show garner praise for its sonic fidelity in the general press, but throughout the tour, newspapers the world over raved about the "perfect quadraphonic sound system". One reporter, Michael Norman of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, was moved to write: "No rock band can match Pink Floyd when it comes to making a stadium show come off sounding as if it's being held in your living room." Pls. continue w/your Ipod shuffling.......

I commend you for your musical taste if that means anything to you, haha. My iPod is eerily similar with a lot of these same songs. I'll join in on this game when I have a little extra time, but with 2,300+ songs on my iPod I don't believe 10 songs will be a full representation of all it has to offer... Now carry on, everybody! hokie07 11 Report Share Posted January 11, 2009 But the "object" of this post is to post the first 10 songs that play on shuffle mode, regardless of what they are... You're right. I'm just saying that with the amount of songs on my iPod that it's very unlikely that I'll draw songs like Hacker's, even though they are on there. Hacker 82 Report Share Posted January 11, 2009 Those were just the 10 that came up in shuffle mode. Variety is what listening to music is about; #11 was BB King, 12 Lyle Lovett.
