hokie07 11 Report Share Posted January 20, 2009 Just kidding! I wanted to get a few of you crazy left-wing liberals fired up! :D In all seriousness though, I wish Barack Obama the best of luck as our President and Commander in Chief these next four years. If he has done anything, he has brought a lot of new excitement to the United States and today is a special day in history.

fieldgeneral 10 Report Share Posted January 20, 2009 I was ready to type hahaha. Unfortunately there are some crazies out there that believe that. Today is History and it's a great day. Watching the speech now with many others.
Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted January 20, 2009 This country needs change and I firmly believe that this man can be the one to bring about that change. The speech he gave today gave me chills.

vthokies4life 10 Report Share Posted January 20, 2009 Apparently Kennedy collapsed at the luncheon. Also, there were reports that Sen. Byrd had a couple of health concerns at the same luncheon. Are there any updates yet?
GetMoney55 11 Report Share Posted January 20, 2009 They first reported that Byrd was the one who was escorted out due to a medical problem but it's since been determined that it was Kennedy. The only concern I heard that they voiced with Byrd was their knowledge of his prior medical problems.

Big Orange 1 10 Report Share Posted January 21, 2009 What kills me is some of the talk shows that wont give him a chance. Whether you voted for him or not, he's our President. Hopefully, we will see some good things, and we all should wish him well.
blueinbama 259 Report Share Posted January 21, 2009 What kills me is some of the talk shows that wont give him a chance. Whether you voted for him or not, he's our President. Hopefully, we will see some good things, and we all should wish him well. That's what talk shows do...most of them try and create or feed off of controversy no matter who is in office at the time. It comes with the job. There has been talk of this new administration shutting out some of the conservative talking heads...I hope that never happens, for that matter on either side. Freedom of speech allows us to be here expressing our opinions. My advice is if you don't like what you're hearing, don't listen to it. Big Orange 1 10 Report Share Posted January 21, 2009 I guess I should re-phrase, alot of people would continue to see the country struggle just so they can say I told you so. I like the talk shows too, and hope they dont change.
trublue 939 Report Share Posted January 21, 2009 Wall Street Journal article by Juan Williams. If you do not know who Juan is.....he is a contributor on Fox, also on NPR and a supporter of Obama. I think this is a very good read....actually heard Rush talking about the article today on his show. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123249791178500439.html
Deleted Account 5,203 Report Share Posted January 22, 2009 He is a very good public speaker. It's nice to have a president that I can listen to. His speech was very good. Hmmm, I wasn't that impressed with his speech, TBH. Not as much the message (which was good), but the delivery was rather emotionless (as was his demeanor throughout the entire inauguration) and drab on the whole. Perhaps with Obama's reputation for oratory, I hold him to a higher standard than I might another speaker.

That's possible, but I thought his speech was good and hit the nail on the head with several parts. I look forward to positive things out of this guy. His public speaking IMO is great, and much greater than our previous pres.

I hope you aren't taking up for Byrd and/or Kennedy. Granted Byrd has done some very good things for the state of West Virginia, he and Kennedy both are two of the biggest crooks in the game.
