This plus golf is the sport that Graham has a serious shot at making it to the state level in it's first year in single A, return 9 or 11 starters i believe.

I hear that Galax is darned good in soccer. That would prove to be a road block.

Powell Valley has historically had a good golf team, so one would expect Union to have one, too.

It is already a known fact around the area in soccer that the 2 spots for state that will be between Graham, Galax, Radford, and Giles, the MED will be a 2 team show this year.

Hate to tell you guys, but the biggest roadblock......always on this side of the state....will be Radford.... Galax will be tough in district play, but Radford is usually on another level...Galax has competed with them in Radford's down years....but Radford is the standard for soccer in Region C.

I think it's possible for Graham to compete with Radford, but they'll have to bring it, big time....if it comes down to it. I do believe that once Graham sees that they have a team that can compete on a state level in single A....it'll only make their program better.

Galax has made it to the state semifinals something like 7 out of the past 8 years but lack of coaching has always held them back. They have lost to Radford in the semis or finals each of those years except one loosing to George Mason. Galax has plenty of talent to compete with Radford and Radford's coaching staff will say the same thing. Galax just does not have a coach who understands the Latino style of play and the kids can't play any other style. This makes little difference in the weak region C but really shows when Galax plays Radford or Giles.

Radford is the standard for group A soccer in this part of the state.

I wish Graham all the luck in the world....but, you'd better not go in thinking you will be able to win it all right away....I would rank Graham 3rd behind #1 Radford and #2 Galax....

Still got a way to go to knock off the big man on the block....Radford rarely loses to single A teams on this side of the state....just a few times in the past 25 years.
