Lance 228 Report Share Posted December 4, 2012 Michael Horton isn't first team? WOW!!! these teams are so political...looks like they split first team 3 different ways to 3 different schools. They best don't always end up where they should...sadly.

HurricaneWarning 212 Report Share Posted December 4, 2012 I thought Dustin Tilson should've made first team but it is what it is.
coacher 10 Report Share Posted December 5, 2012 these teams are so political...looks like they split first team 3 different ways to 3 different schools. They best don't always end up where they should...sadly. I have sat in on a few of these meetings and you would not believe the deals that are brokered to get certain individuals on a team, be it just to make first team or to be player of the year. Its not just SWD meetings either, this happens at all levels.
HurricaneWarning 212 Report Share Posted December 5, 2012 Congrats to Ethan Richardson, we sure are going to miss him next year. Congrats to everyone who made it on the team.
old_school_blue 247 Report Share Posted December 5, 2012 (edited) Michael Horton isn't first team? WOW!!! I agree that is ridiculous. Horton should have been the Def. Player of the Year, IMO. Also, feel that Cody McCann from Tazewell got screwed. No worse that 2nd Team QB. Maybe even 1st team, with the injury to Baker. Played all 10 regular season games, BDT player of the week..etc. Feel that he fell victim to coaching "politics." The way these teams are wheeled and dealed, it is very shameful. futbolking 766 Report Share Posted December 5, 2012 I don't know what you guys are talking about with "wheeling and dealing". The coaches nominate players, then plead their case....the coaches vote (can't vote for own players)...and then they tally votes.... end of process. top vote getters make 1st and 2nd team.... anybody else who received a vote gets honorable mention.... I don't know what they would have to gain with any "deals" being made...most of these guys are just trying to get their players a little recognition for their hard work. It happens. Some get a "little recognition" some get a little less. Surely 'king, you are not that naive.

I believe he was also/almost double in TD's thrown than any other QB in the SWD for the season. He was a BDT player of the week too. I concur with you about Horton not being named to the 1st team--should have definitely been on there. He was the all-around player for the Blues this year. BIGkid 18 Report Share Posted December 6, 2012 In a five team district I think you should only have a first team and any others that were nominated being honorable mention. If each coach only has one vote and can't vote for his player that he nominates it probably breaks down to something like first team 2 votes, second team 1, then a couple honorable mentions. Not much separating the top to the bottom. IMO.
