Great game and season Richlands! Pulling for those Bears to bring it home to SWVA!

Richlans! It's pronounced RICH LANDS! The guy on WVVA pronounced it wrong Friday night, called Scottie Ball, Scotie Hall twice and said it was a state quater final game. At least he got the score right!

#56 that stopped everything in front of him was on the team last year and so was #5 that picked off the Abingdon QB. All those DL and OL are home grown. The question is who on the Abingdon team won't be there next year. Two years on a row they have lost pretty good football players.

The QB that threw those 5 TD's was on the team last year and he will be on the team next year too!

Congrats to Union! You guys have a heck of a football team, great coaches and fan base! I had my doubts about this years RHS team due to the graduation of Michaels, Vance and Bandy. Asbury answered any questions I had about his ability to lead the team and proved his toughness! The kid took a beating and kept getting back up. The secondary coverage was played about as well as you can play especially considering the quality of receivers Union has all over the field. I do think we miss the physicality in the secondary that Vance brought and his ability to make plays no matter where he was used (punt/KO returns, offense). But I never would have thought the biggest lose would have been Bandy. In a hard fought game by both teams, some early seasons mistakes/penalties, a couple turnovers, and missed assignments (10 men on the field on the last TD by Union) it all came down to kicking. It is a game of inches and we missed a FG by about 6 inches that I feel would have won the game. Union won and deserved it! Richlands will correct, learn from it and be a better team from it. Both these teams getting better is scary for anyone they face come November. I like our chances to be there in the end and nothing would be better than to face Union again for a championship. Can you just imagine the atmosphere in Salem?

SWVA has been defined alternatively as all Virginia counties on the Appalachian Plateau, all counties west of the Eastern Continental Divide or at its greatest expanse, as far east as Blacksburg and Roanoke. So all those schools previously named are in SWVA although you might have a hard time getting someone from Roanoke to admit it.

26 kids transferred in to VHS for athletics was what I was told by one of the recruits.

If you take pride in getting under your teams coaches skin and being a negative distraction to kids then please do not attend sporting events. Have a little pride and learn how to behave! Respect yourself!

The student got exactly what he wanted. Attention. We are suppose to learn very early in life and especially in school to follow the rules and to respect authority. Doesn't matter what he thinks or believes, he knew the rules and didn't abide by them. This is the problem with the world today. No responsibility or accountability. He was given more than one opportunity to change the shirt, turn it inside out or leave the school grounds. It seems like he may be a little hard headed or just plain stupid.

I have never heard of someone being to strong. LOL! I would find him a spot on my team if he wanted to play. He could be just a strength guy and based on his size and these numbers it is probably where he should focus his time.
