dshreeves 37 Report Share Posted November 23, 2013 long trip for Buckingham Co next week, regardless of who they play. I believe Gate City would travel there if they beat Union today. Gate City was the #7 seed, Buckingham the 6th?
Great City 210 Report Share Posted November 23, 2013 Yes. GC will travel. Radio announcer said it was 266 miles.

Ryan4VT 4,554 Report Share Posted November 24, 2013 my bad, that's a long haul Should Richlands and Goochland win their games, Goochland would have to come 300 miles on the dot to Richlands.
redtiger 1,740 Report Share Posted November 24, 2013 IF Haysi and Central Lunenburg were to win, CL would have to travel 410 miles. Talk about a road trip! Full blown tour of VA! They would literally travel thru all of VAs regions. I cant even begin to think about how they would plan that trip out. I guess travel to Wytheville on Friday and then come the rest of the way on Saturday?
cityofRaven 2,444 Report Share Posted November 24, 2013 The same Central Lunenburg that beat the Garden Green Dragons in the 1986 state title game. If I were them I'd leave early Friday and stay in Clintwood, Grundy or Lebanon.
redtiger 1,740 Report Share Posted November 25, 2013 After rethinking it I think you're right coR. I would stay in Grundy. Get up around 8:45-9:00, walk to Huddle House for breakfast, finish breakfast at around 10, leave for Haysi at around 10:30, arrive at around 11:20. Games at 2. That would time up pretty well. as a matter of fact I think that's how I would do it if I was any of the East teams. Altavista is the closest possible potential team and that's a 4.5 hour drive in a car. I would encourage any East team to stay in Grundy. And be sure to eat a BIG breakfast and drink plenty of OJ lol 83 is a wonderful, straight easy ride
redtiger 1,740 Report Share Posted November 25, 2013 Didn't CL play PV a time or two for state?
VHSLhelper 571 Author Report Share Posted November 25, 2013 you mean back in 85, 89 & 90 @ Bullitt? Yep.
redtiger 1,740 Report Share Posted November 25, 2013 I knew there was some history there. Seems like everyone from the East has had to travel to Bullitt for a big game at some point.
