Deleted Account 5,203 Report Share Posted March 31, 2014 Man, this place is dead. Kinda like surviving a nuclear winter. But it appears that baseball season starts this week. I don't pay attention at all until July, but I may take in a game or two this week.
Canes00 434 Report Share Posted March 31, 2014 well the injury bug has hit the starting rotation Medlen and Beachy had tommy john surgery again and Minor is out until late april I think the key to this season is going to be BJ and Uggla I feel the braves are going to have to score a lot of runs this year due to the pitching in order to contend
GMan 3,569 Report Share Posted March 31, 2014 Braves wins (over/under): 91.5 What you got?
1inStripes 932 Report Share Posted March 31, 2014 Under unfortunately. Im thinking more in the 87 range.
Canes00 434 Report Share Posted April 1, 2014 I'm thinking 85 and that probably won't be enough for a wild card spot
Deleted Account 5,203 Author Report Share Posted April 1, 2014 I'd put the O/U at .500. I think April and May will be brutal, particularly with the green starting rotation. If they can get out of May within 5 games of .500, they may finish above .500 by year's end.
Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted April 1, 2014 If they can maintain a pitching rotation it should be considered a good year....
1inStripes 932 Report Share Posted April 2, 2014 The good thing for the Braves with the pitching being extremely thin early is that they have a soft start to the season. Hopefully Harang can have more days like today than expected.
bigcotton 40 Report Share Posted April 8, 2014 Well, it looks like they lost another one. Cory Gearrin is joining the list of Braves pitchers having Tommy John surgery. Cant remember one team having this many pitchers out at one time with tommy john, sheesh.
GMan 3,569 Report Share Posted April 9, 2014 Braves wins (over/under): 91.5 What you got? The Braves are currently 4-3. If you extrapolate that out over 162 games, they'll finish 92.5-69.
GMan 3,569 Report Share Posted May 16, 2014 Braves wins (over/under): 91.5 What you got? Braves on pace to win 91.4 games thru 39 games.
Deleted Account 5,203 Author Report Share Posted May 16, 2014 22-17 is VERY good considering where I'd imagined them to be this early on. If that big losing streak weren't in there, it'd be better.
GMan 3,569 Report Share Posted May 17, 2014 Agreed. That was a bad slump and with the weak division they are in, without it, they'd be way ahead of the rest.
bigcotton 40 Report Share Posted July 18, 2014 Braves finally released Dan Uggla. Took them long enough.
Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted July 19, 2014 I hear they are bringing Uggla back to be hitting coach...
Deleted Account 5,203 Author Report Share Posted July 28, 2014 It was Braves day in Cooperstown, apparently. Maddux, Glavine, and Cox.
1inStripes 932 Report Share Posted July 30, 2014 Torre also played for the Braves and managed the Braves although that's not what really led to him getting into Cooperstown.
Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted August 1, 2014 Kershaw may break some strikeout records tonight versus ATL.
blueinbama 259 Report Share Posted August 2, 2014 A sad day for Braves fans. Pete Van Wieren loses battle with cancer. http://www.sportingnews.com/mlb/story/2014-08-02/pete-van-wieren-dies-atlanta-braves-broadcaster-tv-radio
Deleted Account 5,203 Author Report Share Posted August 3, 2014 I was surprised that Van Wieren was only 69. One of those guys who had been around for what felt like forever. He and Skip Caray filled many a childhood night for me. May he RIP. 1inStripes and blueinbama
Deleted Account 5,203 Author Report Share Posted August 4, 2014 This thread has been just dead this year. But the excitement hasn't been there for Atlanta, either. Since the 7th game of the season, the Braves are playing sub-.500 ball.
Bluefield_Rules 46 Report Share Posted August 6, 2014 At least ATL waited until football season to play their way out of the playoffs. Playoffs or not, the Braves don't have the team to contend with the likes of LAD, SFG, etc in a playoff series.
1inStripes 932 Report Share Posted August 7, 2014 8 in a row is terrible. Sadly though, they played with the Dodgers each night. Just didn't get over the hump.

Deleted Account 5,203 Author Report Share Posted September 16, 2014 75-75. Pitiful. Atlanta's had a habit over the past few years of starting out white hot, then playing .500 baseball for the last 120 games. This year, that's not gonna work. Well, time to prepare to cheer against the Os and Gnats. trublue and 1inStripes
