freeatlast2013 8 Report Share Posted May 14, 2016 Will they fall back to the pack in district or did they just have talent ?
Akshun 25 Report Share Posted May 14, 2016 Glenvar lost a lot of talented players. They will be good, but not great. Both O-line and D-line will be solid. Concerns will be the skill position. I wold predict 7-3 or 8-2 season.
futbolking 766 Report Share Posted May 14, 2016 I think Radford takes the TRD this year.... Glenvar and Giles will battle it out for 2nd place, they both lost a lot of talent. As for the Rest.... Auburn Floyd EastMont Probably in that order. I don't know what the heck has happened to Floyd County's football program, they have hit the skids the past several years. Talent pool must be way down, because they have a very good coaching staff.

sixcat 2,919 Report Share Posted May 16, 2016 I haven't seen a Galax schedule but they have opened the season each of the past 5 or 6 years with Glenvar. If that is the case again this year, we will find out quickly what each have. Ryan4VT

I used to live in Floyd County for several years and try to keep up with the TRD as much as I can.

On a side note sixcat, I drove through Galax Saturday and I was very disappointed to see there was no sign put up at the city limit sign denoting "Home of the 2015 VHSL 1A state football champs" :)

They have contracted with an artist from Grayson County to design new signage on stone pedestals that will replace existing signage all over town. The two big questions are up front and can the defense play more consistent than they have. They should be able to score this year. I think they have bottomed out and will have some good years ahead. I hope so, I have some good memories of some very solid Floyd County football teams.
