Auburn 56, George Wythe 52

Auburn hasn't lost in district. They have played a ridiculously tough schedule though, and are currently 7-6. My guess is, the Roanoke Times mistakenly thought Auburn is in the Three Rivers with Alleghany.

Auburn 72 - Fort Chiswell 33
Auburn 59 - Blacksburg 61
Auburn 78 - Giles 27
Auburn 81 - Bland 49
Auburn 50 - Uniontown, PA 75
Auburn 51 - Raines, FL 70
Auburn 53 - Northside 93
Auburn 82 - Roanoke Catholic 68
Auburn 56 - Alleghany 67
Auburn 59 - Grayson County 32
Auburn 81 - Roanoke Catholic 67
Auburn 44 - Pipestem Christian Academy, WV 70
Auburn 56 - George Wythe 52

From Roanoke Times article:

Auburn (7-6, 4-1) started the fourth quarter down 43-36, but quickly changed the momentum scoring the first eight points of the final period. Royal capped off the 8-0 run with a three at the 5:13 mark to give the Eagles the lead. Before the three-pointer, Auburn last led at 5-3 early in the first quarter.

George Wythe (8-3, 4-1) regained the lead on their next offensive possession thanks to a 3-pointer from the Maroons’ Holden Luttrell, but just a minute later Royal put the Eagles up for good with back-to-back 3s to make the score 50-46.

Just wanted to add the text from the article for clarity.  Not debating you @sixcat.  You definitely know more about that district than I do.  🙂

Pretty sure that’s not the same Auburn that played Pipestem Christian

Correct. Pipestem beat Auburn Baptist Christian Academy, not Auburn High. Auburn returned everyone on a team that lost a nailbiter to rival GW in the semi's and had mltiple close battles with GW like always. It's no surprise that Auburn beat GW. They will play again probably 3 more times this year.

District calendar linked below. Last couple of games haven't been updated but they were both victories as listed above. Maxpreps got me on the Pipestem game (rookie mistake) but everything else checks out. Auburn has not lost an MED game.

Not the outcome we wanted, but expected a tight game. Both teams know each other very well after last season.

Man, Auburn just seldom misses at the line....Or at least sure feels like that's the case lol
