Bluebird Posted September 23, 2024 Report Posted September 23, 2024 I saw this on another forum Not sure if you saw this or not: https://www.on3.com/db/ladarius-givan-236715/. Ladarius Givan 6’9, 4 star from Alabama just transferred into John Marshall high school in Richmond. Unreal! For me, it isn’t the fact that there are super teams. It is the fact that many people are soooo tone deaf that they would brag about beating regular teams by 50pts etc. Remember last year Freedom beat Colgan (a new school - seniors) and scored 117 pts or something close? Remember when Manchester scored 70pts on Hermitage with 6 minutes left in the 2nd quarter a few years ago? Even more mind boggling is many people on this board actually tried to defend and justify it. One thing I will say is, regarding Huguenot, I have been pleasantly surprised with how humble they are so far. Big game this week for them against Powhatan. I think my favorite team in the state is the Armstrong Wildcats outside of my own team. Quote

Played on an AAU team. Gee I wonder how Marshall got him? Quote
GilesBandanaMan Posted September 26, 2024 Report Posted September 26, 2024 They also got Henderson. He is Lancasters (recent class 1 state champion) star player and a D1 kid and is committed to Fordham. The transfer and recent VHSL Class 1 POY and D1 commit Henderson, may actually NOT start at John Marshall. Imagine what teams are dealing with. Auburn was good and lost a game in the finals to Lancaster (very close) in which the Henderson kid just dominated for his team. He is an absolute stud and would start for likely any team in Virginia and not just start, but be a star at over 90 percent of teams and now......he may actually not start at John Marshall. What does that say about how good their starting 5 is and matching that up with other Class 2 teams? Literally zero chance. Quote

On the football side, I feel like Phoebus and Maury could handle LCA. No answer to JM. GilesBandanaMan 1 Quote

Phoebus gives zero Cares about how many transfers you have from out of state (LCA). 757 mentality for some of those schools down their is that they can take theirs and beat yours. Pound for pound/size for size, Phoebus can match up with the best of em. Hampton use to be the same way. Didn't matter if the team was a North Carolina powerhouse, they were going to lose to Hampton (football of course). go24 1 Quote

I have never seen anyone on this board defend JM being allowed to play in 2A unless someone from that area was on here trolling RichRich 1 Quote

If I remember correctly I saw Hopewell playing Armstrong in late 90s or early 2000s. Hopewell was very good around that time, I had a cousin graduate from there so we used to go to alot of their games Quote
