I think cleats fall in to that generalization. To be honest I am almost certain that if this had happend in the state title game, very little would have been done. I'll accept this post as an accurate reflection of the series since 1955, but there is no way that the first game between the two teams took place that late. [/ QUOTE ] I believe Richlands actually was penalized at the beginning of the state championship game against Orange. At the very least, I know that the officials checked the cleats and sent them back to the locker room prior to the opening kickoff. I'd heard the rumor that Salem was also wearing them. But that's not something that can be substantiated. Bonehead move by a couple of folks from Richlands for even ordering them to begin with. Seems like every time someone replies to you, you act as if they are lying to you. If you want some facts here are some which I am sure you will probably deny or contest: Fact: Richlands wore illegal cleats in a state semifinal game that I am sure you were well aware of before this post, fact: Richlands won the 1992 state championship, fact: Richlands won the state simifinal game in 2006 and fact: Richlands won the state championship. Salem didn't raise the issue publicly until after the state championship game (although the officials in the Orange game apparently had been tipped off). A bit odd, to say the least.
