Bassett will bring more team speed than MV did last week, but the wet soggy field will neutralize this. I figure they will run alot out of the power I with Thomas(FB 250) and Ross(FB-DL 220) leading Hairston(gained about 220 yds. last week against CC). QB Dillard finished 3rd in state in 100 last year and if he gets to the corner wave goodbye! ! 1 major difference with Bassett than MV is that Bassett rarely throws the ball, and when they do it is either quick slants or dumps over the middle to the TE. Alot of times when they do throw they bring in their backup QB and move Dillard to WR. On D they are a very solid attacking defense with very good overall team speed and size. Ross, Thomas, McCall(the former heavyweight champion of the worlds Oliver McCall's son), Randall and B. Hairston are just a few names to look for. Special teams are not that great, punting is very suspect and the placekicker has limited range. As for a prediction, I think that the field conditions and the talent of both teams defenses will cause it to be a low scoring game, but with the Tornado and the fog, and the "Storm Warnings", the playoff experience, and most importantly the privilige of playing at Ernie Hicks Stadium, I like Richlands by...lets say 14-6!!

From what I've heard so far, I like the way Richlands matches up with them. I'm not too worried about speed if they keep it on the ground, and I think the muddy conditions will favor Richlands.

Well unless the sun comes out in the next couple of days then the field is going to be in pretty bad shape like it was againist Carroll County. So this game might come down to whoever can hold on the the ball the best. Should help slow down that fast Bassett backfield.

Weather Update: Can you believe , we have had sunshine, rain, snow and very high winds just this morning. This Storm brewing is very unpredictable. A lil Chaos(#7) may show and create some havok. Specials Teams can make a huge difference this Friday.

I try to be the head cheerleader when I am not on the field, try to get the now famous "DEFENSE" chant going. I wish that our fans would get into it like the fans over the mountain. It is a safe bet that myself and Primetime will be there to watch some good football Richlands style and cheer for the BLUES!

Alright man, We will look you up. I remember you saying you were #60's dad. He is a heck of a Defensive End. I know you guys bring a lot of noise. Half of the fans at Nelson Memorial the Richlands night were from Richlands. A fan brought back the Air Raid Siren to some home games, the first time it had been out since 96. Our fans were into it last week, but still nowhere near the noise that the fans over the mountain generate!

The Grundy-Richlands game is always the most crowded for us. Its on another level for us compared to the other games (I do remember hearing alot of noise at Graham though). I just wish I had been able to play in the R-lands game this year frown.gif

I remember the one that we had in 96, a guy by the name of Chuck Frank, used to own an equipment rental place beside of KFC in Richlands actually, used to own one in Grundy also. But anyway, he had an Air-Raid siren and a Fire alarm mounted on a dolley with a car battery. Used to make tons of noise!

One of the fondest football memories I have was at the "Salem Game" Early first quarter, Chuck sounds the siren as Grundy gets a first down. The cops come down the stairs on the home side of Bulldog Stadium and tell Chuck the siren has to leave. Well, they end up escorting him out, and got one of the loudest Boo's I have heard in my life. grin.gif Man, that Willis White, what a whiner! grin.gif

Richlands does have a good following, and yes we are loud. I love cool/cold nights, pads popping and dont care if we only win 2-0. I really like defense and hard hits. Thats why I start this thread every week. The Storm has been getting the job done. sure makes the coaches melllow out when the D is on their A game.
