I lived north of Austin for a number of years.  Its a different world down there when you talk about football.  The movies Friday Night Lights and Varsity Blues were exaggerated slightly for television and drama but only slightly.  As a matter of fact, the high school in the district where I lived is the home stadium used in the television show, Friday Night Lights.

The 5A-D1 state championship game had significantly higher attendance figures than 85% of the NCAA bowl games this year.

Ryan my opinion on this is its just way to much. Way over the line in my opinion. Even if it were freshmen and sophomores its pretty tough hearing that. Nothing wrong with teaching them to be tough physically and mentally because you have to be all that to succeed in football but that is border line abuse.

Football is in my experience a great tool to teach young men to be just that.......MEN! I think our area has been blessed to have a good number of outstanding Coaches through the years that have done a great job in coaching our young men in football and teaching them some great lessons they can apply to their future away from football. No need to start naming them because most on here know who they are.

Just my thoughts. I'm sure some will disagree
