GMan 3,569 Report Share Posted May 1, 2015 Call it a midlife crisis, or as my wife says, a waste of money. I had the urge and had it bad. I wanted something I had never had nor had the skill to use it. I conferred with Lance, he gave me advice on what to look for. I scoured the interwebs for information since I had no experience in finding one. Two weeks ago, I ordered one. Last week, I got it. I may not know how to play it yet, but give me time, I'll learn... GMan 3,569 Author Report Share Posted May 2, 2015 Yeh, Youtube is helping me quite a bit right now. If I find myself stumbling with that route, I'll be looking for some 1-on-1 instruction. Although I love listening to many different genres, I've never been musically inclined. In 5th grade, the band instructor told me the only musical instrument I would ever be able to play was the radio. I'm expecting an uphill battle...my wife is expecting the guitar and amp to become "dust collectors"...but I'm going to stick with it and give my best shot at learning to play. blueinbama 259 Report Share Posted May 3, 2015 That's a beautiful Guitar. Looks like a Les Paul? Get those fingertips toughened up and that's half the battle. Ryan4VT and GMan
thundercloud 179 Report Share Posted May 3, 2015 Always enjoyed recording the 12 bar blues progression and then taking those scales and trying to put some Blues (no pun intended) to it. As you progress you can find some enjoyment and motivation there. GMan
Lance 228 Report Share Posted May 9, 2015 nothing more rewarding than teaching yourself how to play guitar...just have to stick with it...practice practice practice...key to it all. Ryan4VT and GMan
