  1. So no we aren't little brother, just haven't won a big game. Keep changin that argument GURU baby, doesn't make it sting any less that GC already lost to Union once and could lose again. I dont sleep with a picture of Phil Robbins, do you jerk off to pictures of Scotty Vermillion every night? Volleyball? Since when do boys play volleyball? I know nothing about girls sports, so that means nothing to me. Let's not get into the argument about the past, because we know that PV will always own GC as they have more state titles than GC in football. I love bringing up 1997. You guys claim a state championship, but you were the THIRD best team in the region. You guys lost to both Appalachia and Powell Valley, both state title winners, but got a consolation prize of a state title. LOL Union has been around all of four full years now, GC has been a school for 50+ years. Union, to be a school that has only been open since 2011, to be able to split the regular season with GC at 2-2 football is pretty damn good. Union has went to GC and won, if another school had been in existence only four seasons and went to GC and won you'd have a stroke. Face it, Union is on GC's level, and those wins will only continue to rack up for Union. You hope we beat VHS again? Why? If we beat VHS (at Union) again and go to GC and win, the district is likely ours. But you keep that hope big boy, just know that Union is here, and they are your equal. You can bully around Norton, or Battle, but you damn sure cant bully Union, because we know we CAN beat you. The town of Big Stone has more football state titles, basketball state titles, and baseball state titles than Gate City. How bout them apples, GURU?
  2. I read the scoreboard wrong, I thought it credited Reynolds with 16 points. Exxcccuuussseeee me. I dont really care about girls basketball anyway, I didnt get their til the fourth quarter.
  3. You those officials you swore were against GC at Union? One of them is blackballed from ever doing games again because how terribly he called the game against Union, and thats a fact jack. So I have no gripe that Union shot two free throws thru three and a half quarters, when Union plays inside out and runs their offense around the basket? If any non-bias fans were there, they would agree with me 100%. Nice to see you disappeared when I pointed out Union and GC are 2-2 in regular season football since Union came into existence.
  4. Agreed on VHS, but Lebanon can play a varied attack of styles and has a great coach. Union could have won at Lebanon if they had not shot like 40% from the free throw line. VHS has the most talent by far, but their coaching is behind Leb, GC, and Union IMO. So Bob, you really believe that one or two of our teams can win some games in that area?
  5. Union scored another conference win tonight, holding off Central by three. It was a crazy, terribly officiated game. Before you call me a Union homer here are some facts: Until the last two minutes of the fourth quarter, Union shot TWO free throws. Union pounds the ball inside and works around the basket, yet only shoots two FTs until Wise was forced to foul late. Wise shot 60% from the three point line, 72% from the field in the second half, Union shot two FTs before the end, and Wise STILL couldnt beat us. Wise played as best as they could possibly play, Union did not, and Union still won. I love beating Wise. Union is something like 10-2/9-2/9-3 against Central in b-ball since consolidation. Central girls won by 15, 45-30 IIRC. Reynolds was the leading scorer, huge shocker. Union boys were led by Barnett, while the leading scorer for Central was #22 Mills, their shooter.
  6. Thats something new. That never happened when I was in high school.
  7. BTW, I meant by true freshman that he was a kid that has not been held back in any grades. He is 14 years old IIRC, possibly 15
  8. GC doesnt have true freshman, they are always redshirted in the 8th grade :P
  9. Which team BcB? VHS has the best shot, they have so much talent and probably the best player in Fudge. GC plays tough D and has a shooter, Union has athletes, a tough inside, and decent guard play. We cant shoot well all the times but at times the shots fall. I would love to see VHS/GC get on the same side of the region tournament or whatever its called now, so Union just advancing to the Final would send them up state.
  10. Hey Im not complaining, theres no way Union should be close with them, but as long as he stays, his teams will be that much more talented yet not be able to blow out inferior teams lol
  11. Union does not redshirt or hold back.
  12. If Kam does not have a head of steam man, Gronk is capable of steam rolling him. But if KC has a running start, he can lay some major hits on Gronk. But can he cover him on routes? KC isnt the most technical guy, Gronk can use his body well to shield defenders and box out and get catches, esp in the red zone.
  13. VHS clearly has the most talent but the weakest coaching. Give them Zack or Scotty V., and they dominate C40 this year. We did beat VHS early in the season, maybe we can do it again but itll be tough. But agreed, no one out of our region is gonna do much outside of it.
  14. I dont think Union is better than Lebanon, no. And Union may have some wins against GC in softball, I dont know, but I was just referring to the main boys sports. My point was that Guru called Union little brother, and I think that is an unfair assessment as Union can be competitive with GC in all the major boys sports. I dont follow the girls sports as much, although I think Sydney McKinney is likely the best player out of the two teams, GC has the better overall team.
  15. Union has Jay Gavin, Rashaaun Noaks, and Jake Barnett as juniors and James Mitchell as a potential star in a couple years, true freshman
  16. techfan hit it on the head, but its not like it was a risky preseason pick lol but still its awesome to pick something pre-season and have it come to fruition. In the game, its gonna be tough for NE's athletically challenged WRs outside of Gronk and Lafell to get open, and the NE OL to hold up against the Seattle pass rush. The NE corners can cover the Seattle WRs for the most part, but accounting for the huge chunk plays on scrambles by Wilson could decide the game. It will be of utmost importance for the Pats that if they go man coverage to have a spy on Wilson and stress that DBs play the WRs at all times and do not let their eyes wander. Zone can help, but it also somewhat neutralizes their best defensive weapon in Revis. The NE linebackers have been great dealing with Mayo's injury, Hightower is a legit ILB (and big and strong enough to tackle Lynch in the hole) and Collins is a versatile weapon like Vrabel or Adalius Thomas used to be for them. The key matchup is likely the NE front stopping Seattle from imposing their run game. Theres no way NE can count on Wilson throwing so many picks and play so poorly like he did in the GB game, but its also not in Seattle which makes them more vulnerable. But if Seattle can implement their will and run the ball, it will be tough for NE to control the ball long enough to match them in points and possessions to win. Vince Wilfork, Chandler Jones, and Hightower are absolutely key to stopping the run and forcing Seattle to make long third downs. I'm rooting for a 28-24 New England win (I am a Niners fan, fuck Seattle), but a Seattle win is not a surprising outcome.
  17. Thats twice now, Union does not match up well against Lebanon whatsoever. Union pulled within a couple possessions in the fourth quarter, but from what I understand Lebanon controlled the game throughout. It was at Lebanon, but I am not sure Union beats them in Big Stone. Its matchups and the style of play, Union matches up better with GC than Lebanon. I did notice how I got no response from Guru (I could make a quip about the name being a hilarious oxymoron, but I will resist) when I pointed out that since Union came into existence, they are 2-2 in football regular season games, with both teams having a road win. Little brother usually doesn't beat big brother half the time, if that's the metaphor of choice. In basketball, GC usually has had the better program, and Union did not own a win against GC until Friday (although we have advanced out of the region in recent years, 2013-2012 I cant remember exactly, VHS upset them in the Region tourney). Union still has to go to GC, but if they go to GC and win, which will be a very tough task, it'll be hilarious. GC has one of if not the best athletic programs in this end of the state, they are competitive at high levels in every sport. Hat's off to them. But some of their fans are douches, and no one in Big Stone (or Appalachia I would presume) feels any sort of inferiority complex towards Gate City, Big Stone has more boys state championships and actually has a state title in basketball, as does Appalachia. I have no qualms admitting how successful Gate City has been as an athletic department over the years. But to try and look down your nose at Union or Big Stone is hilarious. The only schools around there that can compete with GC on a regular basis were PV/AHS, and Union is still competitive, 2-2 in the regular season. So you can act all superior, I'll continue to laugh at you and mock you.
  18. Union's schedule: 8/27--John I Burton (A) 9/4--Richlands (H) 9/11--David Crockett, TN (A) 9/18--Ridgeview (H) *homecoming* 9/25--Gate City (H) 10/2--Open 10/9--Lee High (A) 10/16--Central (A) 10/23--Eastside (H) 10/30--Letcher County, KY (A) 11/6--John Battle (H)
  19. Ill make you a sig bet. If Gate City beats Union at GC by 10+, I will put up a Gate City avatar as my picture. If Union wins or loses by less than 10, you put up a Union logo. Deal? Union may well lose their next game, its at Lebanon, one of the better teams in C40 or whatever its called. Lebanon runs that four corners stall ball and Union was unable to beat them the first time they played. So they may lose, but it does not change the fact that Union beat Gate City, and the game was never in doubt until the last minute.
  20. Little brother? LOL whatever you say. Its hilarious how mad you are that Union beat GC. Union played a good game, but they were far from their best and STILL won. You keep crying about the officials whereas NO ONE ELSE has acted as if Union got all the calls. Again, explain to me how its a double technical when a GC player shoves Noaks to the ground? Did you forget who won in football in 2013? I believe the score was 41-19. What about 2012, when Union railed GC 55-27 AT Gate City?? Since the schools combined, they are 2-2 against each other in regular season football. So, little brother has won just as much as big brother has How does that taste? Does it taste good?
  21. Its not like Union is full of upperclassmen, they start all of one senior. None of the four best players are seniors, and Mitchell is just a freshman. Union should be loaded next year, losing only one starter and theres a kid on the JV team that is going to be a great player. The officials were terrible, but I do not believe they were pro-Union at all. They were just incompetent. And to the poster who cant understand how GC got a technical? Are you mentally ill? The GC kid shoved Noaks to the ground! I cant believe Union was called for a technical to make it a double tech. Gate City might not have played their best, but neither did Union and its a slight to Union to act as if they had nothing to do with Gate City being so ineffective.Gate City has two players that can play, 11 and 14, and the rest aren't great. Union did a great job containing 14 until he hit a few shots late. Union led by 7 when the game started, the lead was 12 points in the fourth quarter! Its not as if GC was close the entire game, Union missed two easy lay ups to allow GC to tie the game. So how embarrassing is it SWVA Sports Guru that big bad Gate City that plays in the Arby's and against Tenn. teams comes to Union and gets beat, never has a lead and was down double digits for the majority of the game? That has to BURNNN LLOOOLLLLLL. If GC can destroy TN High, then obviously Union can as well as we handled you guys. Union won by 7, but led by double digits the majority of the game. It wasn't until Union made some silly mistakes late that GC was even in the game. Just get over it, Union was damn sure tough enough to win Friday night, homie The audacity to act like Union got away with all these blatant shoves under the basket while GC did no wrong just shows how arrogant you are, and how WRONG you are. Union>Gate City, eat it. (Not directed at GC_Devils, he seems like a level-headed poster, this is to the moron who wont admit that Union is better than Gate City).
  22. So because GC beat Tenn High, they are better than Union even tho Union beat them and NEVER trailed in the game?? That is some sound logic right there Einstein.
  23. You are so full of shit, how many times did Barnett and Noaks get MAULED? You are obviously a Gate City homer who cannot admit Union is the better team. GATE CITY made the game rough, not Union, Union prefers a more wide open attack and going up and down the floor. They dont want games like that. Gate City was the one hand checking all night and starting the physical play. Until you get your head out of your ass and realize just how wrong you are, dont respond to me, you are not worth my time. Gate City made it rough to try and intimidate Union, they could not do it, and lost for it, so much for a team that isnt tough enough to beat big bad GREAT CITY huh? The refs were bad, but to act like the officials were on Union;s side is absolutely laughable, only a dolt would think that. Get a clue son.
  24. Did GC ever even lead in the game? If you were there, you clearly saw who the better team was and not to mention the officiating was horrible on both sides. Both teams had to deal with crap officiating, but the double technical after Noaks was shoved down to the ground was silly.
