Ummmm Patrick Henry G.S. is 68-23 since 2014 on.....they aren't named Galax and are 1A West. (You asked) But I understand what you are saying and would say there are ZERO schools where its all skittles and rainbows; there is always going to be a small few he will never be happy no matter what he does at GW. I don't know him personally nor have a student-athlete at GW but from a football fan I just never understand why every year people are always wanting him gone when you never hear of anything that merits his firing....Once again no one ever throws out a name that could replace him and do as good of job....Nick Saben isn't coming to Wytheville.

If you are saying “eye level” meaning the defense is just watching RBs and reacting from their movement then you will be in for a long night….you better be reading the big uglys up front, they will take you to the ball. You watch the backfield and your head will be spinning. I will be crushed on here for this but, “No body has a QB under center anymore” is the reason football is worse now than it’s ever been. Everybody thinks they are a spread team, chuck it 60 times a game; yet they can’t pick up a 4th and 1 because they are taking a snap at 4+ yards deep in gun so basically it’s a 4th and 5. The best teams that make it deep; with exception of a few (Riverheads) can get under center and run the ball; look at Salem year in and year out, nothing fancy just down hill football.

He/They beat a majority of the people on their schedule year in and year out...Bland and Auburn are in his district and for the most part coaches only get to play the people who the AD schedules. I understand you always want to win and beat everyone and win states; its just not that easy. I just think from an outsider GW seems to be a contender and a team to watch out for year in and year out and their head coach is Harner; yet every year GW people want him out; for goodness sakes who do they want HS, Mark Dixon, Chris Akers (10-0; #1 Seed in D lol).

Hes 67-23 since hes been there....I know he hasn't done well against Radford (2-5) or Galax (1-9)....but how many teams have done well against each one of those 2 teams. I guess if your judging it on records vs them or how many state championships he has then OK. I'm just not sure who you think your going to get that's going to do a much better job. In the last few years there has been jobs open everywhere and yet the coaching pool is very shallow....not always greener on the other side (ask coach Dixon)

You guys are right Giles vs. Glenvar Sat @ 1. I still see Galax beating Grayson and Giles playing somewhat close with Glenvar but in the end getting beat....still playing out Galax #1, Giles #2.

Giles is not playing Glenvar Friday night…COVID issues; I think it’s a “no contest cancellation.” So I’m assuming for the most part other than bonus points their points freeze or will increase just a little. In terms of not wanting to play Galax twice in a row…..umm beat Galax Friday night. That being said I think Grayson was exposed by GW and Galax will follow their blueprint and win Friday night pretty one sided 35-7 or so. The good news is you can see what works and what didn’t work and turn around and make adjustments and give it another try.

My prediction for C is: #8 Grayson at #1 Galax #7 Covington at #2 Giles #6 Eastmont at #3 Parry McCluer #5 Narz at #4 George Wythe *One thing that could change this is if Covington plays I think James Monroe…sometime this week; maybe tomorrow and gets that win and the last win vs Craig; that could bump them up.

It’s probably because 3 of those wins are against teams who have 0 wins, 1 vs Auburn and 2 vs Fort. EM, Narz, and Cov although playing some bad teams still a couple of those bad teams have a couple wins against even worst teams.

Wouldn’t Narz get 16 points (16+0) for the bath win? If East Mont loses they would only get 11 points (4+7). That would be +5 for Narz then of course you figure in bonus points from other games, but 5 is a pretty wide margin at this point.

I don't think Auburn is dealing with injuries, I think its more of dedication issues. Some weeks kids feel like playing other weeks they do not. I would say after taking a tail whipping tonight vs Grayson it'll be hard to get them back for next week; which is against Bland (So maybe; no offense to Bland). However, then the schedule is Giles, Galax, and George Wythe; wouldn't be surprised to see them play ZERO of those games.

Sad news out of Rye Cove and John Marshall.....hate it for the kids. At least Rye Cove has a plan to finish out the season with a JV squad and help keep the program moving in a positive direction; that's a great move by the coaches and admin. In terms of the Essex and Northumberland game/situation....THANK goodness we live in SWVA; we have our own issues sometimes but nothin like that crap shoot.

Is the Rye Cove season officially over or is that your take on how things are going. If its official, I hate to hear that about their program and feel for the seniors who lost a short spring season and now an even shorter fall 2021.

Haha I was waiting for someone to bring that up.....I "thought" he was a terrible coach who couldn't win anywhere. From what I've seen I say a 10-0, 9-1 regular season and a match up with Galax in the region again.

Northcross used to count but starting this year they are a "boarding" school; so they are no longer VHSL; no points.

Maybe so or maybe a team had to quarantine and their last day is Friday and so trying to get it in on Saturday vs. moving it to another week.

Just saw on twitter: Christiansburg HS vs. Floyd Co HS was pushed from Friday night to Saturday at noon.....not sure if this was covid related or what; cant see how a matter of hours would make a difference if it was covid.

Does this make absolutely no sense because you see it from the "opposite political viewpoint?" He has his party on lockdown no matter what he does; now he wants to appease SWVa by allowing football to go on and maybe he can pick up some votes for allowing football. You don't honestly think he cares one way or the other about COVID right now do you? He's just trying to figure out what helps him win the election.

It’s election year for the governor so it would be political suicide for him if he shuts it down…they’ll play…he’ll claim he kept everything open for the kids, then when the elections over all bets are off, sorry basketball
