I understand that, but it's that way almost everywhere that has suburbs or housing developments that may fall outside city limits. BSG and Appalachia, plus the areas towards Lee County that may come to Union, are still significantly lower than a place like Bristol or Radford. There's probably around 7,000 people if you expand everything, maybe a little more, and that's total population not adjusted for any factors. Compared to Radford or Bristol, it's still a significant gap.
Yet the student population of Radford High is 509 compared to 625 for Union.
I wouldn’t say all of 2A is weak. 2C isn’t looking the greatest but Ridgeview, Union, and Graham are solid this year and Richlands is one of those sleeper teams that will probably go in as a 5th seed after putting 45 on the top team in 2C(points wise)
I’m referring to class 2 region A. Not the whole class. B and D are pretty solid this year. And the top 3 in C (Radford, Gretna, and Appomattox are all tough teams)
The top 4 in 2D would likely beat Radford so I’m sure a team from that region represents the west. I’m not sure what the East has especially with Goochland going to 3A. I know that Buckingham returned 20 starters and put the smack down on a solid Appomattox team so they could be an issue.
In my opinion, 2A is extremely weak this year. In 2B Buckingam is very good and Stuart’s draft is undefeated. My guess is one of those two teams will be in Salem in December.
As a Richlands fan, this is starting to get annoying to see. Do I think we got multiple bad calls against us?absolutely. Do I think anything can change it? No. So let’s accept it for what it was and move on. No need to beat a dead horse anymore.
I find it interesting that so many assume richlands is bad instead of seeing the possibility that gate city may be a lot better than anyone expected this year.
This decision may not bode well for Heritage on Saturday. You know the coaches and kids from Botetourt are gonna be a little pissed when they take the field and it’s not at their house. And we’ve all seen what this Botetourt team can do with a bit of a chip on their shoulder. They shut down an outstanding bluefield team on the road when most people, myself included expected bluefield to win that game. They may be even more eager now to prove that they are not only the better team, but also deserved to play in front of their home crowd.

It takes a true man of character to admit when he was wrong. To me that says more about you than the unfortunate post that was made earlier.
As much as I want to see the playoff Richlands of so many years past that really turns it on in the postseason, I just don’t see this game being competitive as of right now. Since the first quarter of the graham game offensively the execution had been absolutely miserable. I don’t believe Moir is a horrible high school quarterback, but seeing him in years past he is so much more valuable as an offensive and defensive weapon. The issue is there’s no one more competent to take the reigns on this team.its surely not trey brown, no offense intended. I think that’s where the teams struggle begins and ends. I have not seen the season long improvements as is usual with a Richlands team. In ways, they look worse than they did at the beginning of the season offensively and defensively and thats not what you want to see in November. I hope I’m wrong but I think Ridgeview wins by 17 or more.
