No matter how he meant it, it needs to be relayed to the Union players that it was a smack in the face. Any motivation helps.. lol.

I doubt he’s been asking for this for years. Especially from 15-17..

I think they've tried scheduling this game a couple times but SH wanted both games at home

Most likely they were to a point. Moat teams don't play their starters the full time in jamboree and scrimmages. I also doubt they showed their entire playbook. I wish people would stop taking benefit games, scrimmages, and Jamborees so seriously. They have little baring on the regular season.

Wasn't taking it serious but what else can you go buy early in the season

If Union and P. Valley are counted as the same, I believe they go back to 1991ish, don't quote me though.

I through 2021 out. Just take that off the table. P. Valley might have missed the postseason after 1991 through 2010 once, but I can't recall it happening.  If PV/Union aren't counted as the same, then there's some research involved. Off the top of my head, G. Wythe may be the leader going back to 2005ish if PV/Union is considered different. Until a year ago, Richlands would go way back, long before 2005, maybe I yo th 1990s, but they missed out last year. Graham had a miss around 2007ish, and take away that one, and I think you have to go back to the 1980s as their last playoff miss.

If you're counting PV with Union you have to count Appy too.  Both had some bad years before consolidation but not sure if there was a season both missed playoffs

Outside of special teams and depth, where science hill has a very distinct advantage, I’m not sure there is a big difference between the teams anywhere. They’re actually very similar. Dare I say Union will have the LOS advantage?

Union peanut team has a advantage in special teams over varsity.  Only saving grace is Huff with the ball the kid is electric.  We have a guy in the NFL now but Huff could be the best athlete ever at Union just doesn't have the size to go to a major college

Finally, I get around to watching Union vs Lee.  Union looks pretty dam* good out there.  QB is something else.  To me personally, totally one guys opinion only, Union is slightly Better than King William, Central, Riverheads, and Radford.  I haven't seen Poquoson or enough of Appo to make a call.  I think Graham does look 7 points better than Union right now.   It's early and yes, Lee is hard to make a judgement call because Lee is not very good, but Union looks very good imo.  There's a possibility that the second best Class 2 team in the state is Not in Region A, B, or C.  That team might be in Region D.  I think if Union played Radford, they would pulverize them on the ground, and Union looks equal to Central Woodstock on the line of scrimmage, but more athletic overall.  Just my take.

Lots of football left.  Tons of it.  It's game 2 coming up, but if Union could somehow get by Graham in Region D, they may actually be last team remaining when the show is over.  All of those other teams mentioned above are very good, but Union is right there with them this year imo.

The QB looks completely different from last season.  Kid must've went to a few camps or something.  Lot better mechanics and zip on the ball

We will see.  I hope I'm wrong.  I just don't know that we can block anyone long enough for us to get anything going on offense.

I think it'll be a good game up until the 4th quarter then Union pulls away

Everyone lost some key players last year.  Within the next couple weeks we should really be able to tell something.

Do you have Gate City finishing last I'm confused?

Not a "bold" prediction but Union vs Graham in 2D Region Championship.  Richlands starts to turn the corner and becomes SWD #2.

How's Ridgeview gonna do this season I know they lost a few very good players

TS and TW both had about 40 kids on the roster last year. I don't think they are playing 8 man anytime soon.

Was just giving an example.  Didn't see Walker play last season but if they had 40 players that'd be the first time in awhile

It is a shame to see athletic kids come through a program and not be utilized properly.  It truncates possibilities for that athlete.  Over the next 5-10 years we will see the phasing out of those coaches that simply refuse to adapt to their athletes.  Look no further than this year's region championship.  Tony Palmer said, "Shit, this is going to be a shoot-out, let me go straight Wildcat and get it to my best athlete 30+ times."  RV responded by not adapting/adjusting and managed to get it to their best athlete 2-3 times.  Graham wins by 21.  I see positive movement from Turner at Union....he is adapting to the talent he has.  Not enough but he is.  In today's day and age, it is simply unacceptable for coaching staffs not to be multiple....and be damn good at being multiple.  This is why no one is catching Graham for a while.  Tony gets it while everyone else is content to "run their system".  Tony adapts and isn't dead set on beating you a certain way.  Listen, if you switch coaching staffs Palmer wins a state championship with Ridgeview this year and he very well might have done it with Union.  That says a lot.

I agree with you on Grahams coaching staff they're gonna win alot of championships next 10 years while the rest of us are playing for second
