So you have the facts? By all means enlighten the board. Fact: On Friday May 17, 2018 there was a schedule for baseball district tournament games to be played at Falcon Field on Saturday May 18, 2018 at 12:00 pm and 2:30 pm. Fact: Sometime that day there was some sort of vote within the Mountain 7 District and Abingdon Baseball was removed from the district tournament. Fact: If all teams within a given district are not allowed to participate, then it is not really a district tournament.

So there was some sort of vote in the Mountain 7 District and now Abingdon isn't going to participate in the District Baseball Tournament?

I'm sure Richlands will be fine. Mance will have what he has, they will work hard, and he'll have them ready to compete each Friday.

Not sure Havok. It does seem odd to play Daniel Boone and then the next day play VHS. Haven't heard anything about playing this weekend though.

Tonight VHS is making the trip for their regularly scheduled rivalry game with AHS. Should be a good one. Both teams seem to be getting better as the season progresses. I'm looking for a close one tonight.

Curious as to how big of a crowd Union bring to Falcon Field tonight? Should be a good game.

Well said. There are some really talented players to watch in the area. And like you said there are more playing D1 Baseball than any other sport from around our area. Not just from Abingdon but several from other schools as well.

I guess it might be too early in the season yet. Once baseball gets rolling, talk may pick up. I feel like there will be some pretty good teams from around the area. Wise Central, John Battle, Abingdon, Virginia High, and Tazewell should be pretty good this season. Not sure about 1D teams but Eastside is getting a lot of press in the paper.

I would doubt it. He seems very comfortable at Union. Who knows though, he may want to go to a bigger program.

As for the Falcons making a run in the playoffs. Does anyone really know? Should they? I would say yes they should. They have the pieces to make a run. They have the talent to make a run. But as anyone who knows baseball would say "Baseball, its a funny game and just when you think everything is in place, something happens." By all accounts that statement is incorrect. AHS should and will be pretty deep on the mound this year. Several senior and junior arms that have seen plenty of mound time the past couple of years. Not to mention there is some real talent coming through the JV ranks. That statement is unfair and you are just shooting digs. You know as well as everyone else that Abingdon has no choice in that matter and they are the only 3A school this side of Christiansburg. Travel cost would be astronomical trying to play a total 3A/4A schedule. Besides VHSL put them in the M7 district. Let's all hope for a solid season, no injuries, and watch some quality baseball in SWVA.

I don't know that you will have much trouble getting in. The Convocation Center is fairly large. They have hosted other high school events in the past and there wasn't much issue with seating or getting into the place.

Gate City is having a fantastic basketball season. Kudos to them and I certainly hope the make a serious run at the 2A state title. Live it up GC, Enjoy the ride cause baseball and football season is coming. Just remember, what comes around, goes around.

Not sure what 7 cities you mean but to be honest there is only 3 general areas that make up or should I say make decisions for the state. Northern VA, Hampton Roads area and Richmond area.

This is certainly becoming a 30 for 30 film. There definitely seems to be something more to the story than whats being reported. Should UT have let Butch Jones go? Probably. The old saying goes "You are what your record says you are" Was the timing right? Probably Should Currie have used a search firm as apposed to going it alone in the coach search? Probably. I was at this game. Incredible play. But what was coolest of all. The QB was our very own Jake Sturgill. Both UVA-Wise's other QB's Had been knocked out of the game literally, in the first half.
