  1. Those things were confusing... Lol. I couldn't tell if you thought Ridgeview was going to make it or not. I've quit speculating now... Lol. I'll just go watch the game Friday night, then come back home and calculate up the power points when I get back.
  2. I'm the same way, although I am old now and just couldn't pull it off for the Ridgeview/Marion game, with the constant drizzle and wind. Weren't you cold in Abingdon that night? I think you guys got quite a bit more rain that night than we did.
  3. Ryan, not sure if this makes a difference, but Ridgeview is at Honaker, not the other way around... Also, what is this CalPreps? Is it kind of like the VHSL Reference predictor?
  4. Too bad that you didn't get to play them 20 miles or so closer like we did a couple of years ago... Lol. I just hope Ridgeview can make it someway. I figure IF we do, I'll have to make the long journey to Appomattox... but I'll do it. If it IS someone like Dan River or Appomattox, isn't there a rule in place that IF so many miles separate two playoff opponents, then the game must be played on a Saturday?
  5. Yeah, I would have liked to gone to the 3A/4A title games this year since I went to 1A/2A last year. But, they moved the 3A/4A games out of Lynchburg because liberals and hatred of guns BS. So, whoever Abingdon plays the second round, that's the game I'll go see.
  6. According to a retweet from Tim Hayes, two Hancock County football players were involved in a car accident this afternoon. One died. Prayers for everyone involved.
  7. Don't get the chance to see 3A teams often. I've seen Union and Richlands both this year. Lol.
  8. Tough choice... but if both were played on the same day, I would go to the one that was closer, which would be Abingdon for me. It'd be nice if they played some of these games on Friday and Saturday, so I could go to two in one weekend. Lol.
  9. A possible second round matchup with Lord Botetourt or Magna Vista would be awesome! That would be a "Take my money" matchup.
  10. It's happened in basketball district tournaments in Virginia before, notably the Crooked Road Conference tournament a couple of years ago I believe with Hurley or Council girls... but never seen it in football. You'd think if they forfeited, then the next team below them in the standings could replace them, but whoever that team was must be winless considering Unaka was 1-9.
  11. I was glad that I pretty much had everything spot on this week with the exception of Radford, where I must have had a typo error, giving them 48 rider points instead of 58... So, if the order of teams on the VHSL Top 20 sheets are correct, I am assuming that Gretna would get the tiebreak over Ridgeview, meaning that the chance of making the playoffs would be basically null.
  12. Union never has losing seasons though. Would your mind change if you were the 3-7 team like us?
  13. Yeah... Tennessee has the same 32 team format, just 8 regions instead of 4 and 4 teams per region with the exception of 6A, I think, which only has 4 regions. In Kentucky, Jenkins always makes the playoffs regardless of record also... I think it's because Kentucky only has 16 1A schools...
  14. LMAO. Oh dear. I also noticed Unaka made it at 1-9. The same Unaka that freaking J. I. Burton put almost 70 on this year.
  15. It is weird man... last year, it took us getting to 6-4 to get in. 5-5 wouldn't have cut it last year. This year we're talking about possibly 3-7 getting in. A couple of years ago, a 1-9 Martinsville team made it, but that was more a product of their 4A, 5A schedule.
  16. I posted in the "ratings" thread before I had looked at this one... so, basically our only shot is hope we tie Gretna in the points and beat them on tiebreak somehow... correct?
  17. I haven't figured up what if scenarios for next week based on who's likely to win and whatnot, but a buddy of mine from Coeburn messaged me on Facebook yesterday and said he figured it up and that if things go as as projected next week, then we would actuallly tie Central for the final spot. If that's the case, then I would guess Central would actually get the spot based on head to head, correct?
  18. Here's how I have 1A West calculated: 1. Galax 24.22222 2. Hurley 23.33333 3. George Wythe 23.22222 4. Chilhowie 21.22222 5. Fort Chiswell 21.11111 6. Parry McCluer 20.33333 7. Patrick Henry 19.33333 8. J. I. Burton 17.88889 9. Narrows 17.22222 10. (tie) Twin Valley and Castlewood 16 12. (tie) Covington and Rural Retreat 15.77778 14. Radford 15.55556 15. Twin Springs 14.44444 16. Bland County 13.66667 17. Auburn 13.11111 18. Honaker 12.77778 19. Thomas Walker 12 20. Eastside 11.8 21. (tie) Northwood and Bath County 11.44444 23. Holston 11 24. Eastern Montgomery 10.33333 25. Rye Cove 8.75 26. Craig County 8.3 Galax should get the 1 seed but it will be VERY tight between Hurley and GW on the 2 seed. Around the bubble... Bland County should hold on to the final spot as Auburn and Thomas Walker have very little chance of winning vs. Giles and J. I. Burton respectively. Honaker COULD steal the last spot with a win over Ridgeview. Bland has Fort Chiswell and should lose. Honaker vs. Ridgeview is probably the game of the week in SWVA next week. Both teams MUST win for any shot at the playoffs.
  19. Any ejections on the Union side which could be costly next week against John Battle?
  20. The weakness of their schedule and the strength of the Ridgeview schedule showed last night I believe. Also, Grundy can not defend a deep pass AT ALL.
  21. I haven't crunched numbers on likely scenarios... but from my first glance observations... I would say the top 14 are safe and locked in. The winner of Tazewell and Lebanon probably gets the 15 seed and IF Virginia High beats Lee, they would get 16. IF Virginia High LOSES to Lee, then it will probably come down to Ridgeview and Gretna. Gretna has an almost SURE win against Nelson County, while Ridgeview has a very winnable game against Honaker. Could get VERY interesting. I have figured in that James River will lose to Covington, but if James River wins, then they would get in over Virginia High, Gretna or Ridgeview.
  22. Here's my calculations: 1. Appomattox 26.66667 2. Graham 26.55556 3. Richlands 26.2 4. Union 25.44444 5. Dan River 25.22222 6. Martinsville 22.44444 7. Glenvar 22 8. Giles 21.77778 9. Marion 21.33333 10. Grundy 20.6 11. Lee High 20 12. Gate City 19.1 13. Floyd County 18.88889 14. John Battle 18.55556 15. Lebanon 16.66667 16. James River 15.66667 17. Wise Central 15.6 18. Tazewell 15.55556 19. Virginia High 15.44444 20. (tie) Gretna and Ridgeview 15.33333 22. Chatham 15 23. Grayson County 14.44444 24. Buckingham County 12.66667
