  1. Ha! You've never been to a Ridgeview game where most folks leave after the girls game. @champ Ridgeview lost twice last week in Kentucky, so to be fair, they probably don't belong in the top 3 at the moment. Very well could lose their third straight tomorrow night at Abingdon. Since Central won a tournament in Orlando, and Abingdon looks to be pretty dominant, I think they should be 1st and 2nd at the moment hands down.
  2. I hope this never happens to poor ole Liam... Poquoson fans would be up in arms and in hardcore rage mode crying that Ryan is nothing but a mean ole bully.
  3. Yes. Central beat them by 14 I believe. Abingdon plays in the Mountain 7 district, however they are a 3A school. If they were 2A, then they'd probably be in the discussion for state championship contention. But 3A has Broadway, Botetourt and Northside is always fairly good also I believe. Abingdon has a D1 signee in Grace Hess (Air Force).
  4. Lord Botetourt actually plays Abingdon today at Abingdon.
  5. Floyd is traditionally a very good 2A program, I think they do have a new coach this year if I remember reading that right, so that could be making a difference in performance this year. Some upcoming games on the radar @champ you might want to check out are: 12/30 Emory & Henry showcase: Wise Central vs. Martinsville (rematch of last year's 2A state championship game), Parry McCluer vs. Gate City 1/3 Ridgeview at Abingdon 1/5 Union at Abingdon 1/9 Ridgeview at Wise Central
  6. Yeah, that score shocked me... GW lost all 3 games at Virginia High I believe, including to Holston of all teams... Wrong. Wise Central would beat them by double digits. Abingdon and most likely Ridgeview and Union also. Plus I would venture to guess most 5 and 6A teams could as well. EDIT: Ok, I might ought to rethink that. Seen PM beat Mavahi by 18. That's pretty dang impressive if Mavahi has even remotely the same from last year's team.
  7. Who is this rudy poo, candy @$$ you speak of? :D
  8. True dat.... But you're 1-1 all time against the Pack. ;)
  9. I knew you'd get a kick out of that.. :)
  10. People from Marion should choose to go to Chilhowie, so they'd have a better shot at a state championship. :D
  11. Go Hokies! But even I pull for Alabama every third Saturday in October. Ha!
  12. Here's the coaches poll and the link to the team capsules in today's Herald Courier: Gate City Union Wise Central Abingdon Ridgeview John Battle Lee High http://www.heraldcourier.com/sports/mountain-district-boys-basketball-preview-capsules/article_4fa8ef76-e136-11e7-9f13-0b432d801315.html
  13. Honaker is not even predicted to win the district. Grundy is.
  14. Of course the two smartest folks on the board would win... now time to go make my Bowl Mania picks and win that too... :p

  17. Nice to see that the Coaches of the district agreed with my girls preseason predictions spot on! http://www.heraldcourier.com/sports/mountain-district-girls-basketball-preview-capsules/article_3f7e0536-e088-11e7-b55c-bb665ce1c57f.html
  18. I got chastised harshly for this strategy during the season, so I didn't vote anymore. Lol.
  19. It's pretty bad when Appomattox fans even told me at the Union game that Advocate just needs to shut the hell up and that he gives the community a bad rep...
  20. I assume Ridgeview got one after that debacle against Grayson County... which I am still not over. Lol
  21. I think I read in the BHC that he will play in both.
  22. I figured I would post my opinion on how the district would finish up in boys and girls this year. I don't know much about the other schools in the district, so this is more or less a blind look. Interested in seeing how my predictions look come the end of the regular season. Girls: Abingdon Central Ridgeview Union Gate City John Battle Lee High Notes: Abingdon has looked dominant so far and with a D1 recruit in Hess, I think their first season in the M7 gets them a district title. Central won the PVNB tournament, and even though they had some key losses from last season, Dotson just reloads the guns. Ridgeview has everyone back from last season''s team except two players, only one being a starter. Union had Central on the ropes in the PVNB tournament only to have another meltdown and getting T'd up. Also, is Ridgeview in Union's head being 0-8 all time against the Pack? Gate City squeaked by Rye Cove in a benefit game. Not sure what Battle has back from last year, but they did upset Gate City in the district tournament one season ago. Lee High... well someone has to finish at the bottom. Boys: Gate City Abingdon Union Lee High Central Ridgeview John Battle Notes: No question here who's number 1. Something is telling me that Abingdon will outlast Union for best of the rest. The other 4 are more or less just there, I will say that Ridgeview is much improved and I look for them to get out of the cellar this year. Battle lost their everything guy, Felty who is now at Emory and Henry.
  23. I have reasons for being a bitter old fart about those tournaments... Lol. I won't get into them here.
  24. Yeah, you're probably right... I still think that tournament and the boys tournament both over there are a joke. I would assume one of the players who quit was the one who hit the end of regulation buzzer beater against Ridgeview, since I think she was the coach's daughter and an 8th grader at that.
  25. In my best Enzo Amore voice... "Well whadda we have ova here? A cupa hata's?"
