  1. You mean they fired Hugh Freeze already?
  2. Rye Cove and Twin Springs would be a nice thing for them if they could stand each other!
  3. Baker is the only GC football player in the VHSL HOF...he was a man among boys!
  4. We have this consolidation conversation on this board every 6 months! As far as Russell County the three schools are relatively close together and could be accomplished pretty easily. Scott County is a different animal, the county is huge (539 sq. miles) and 70 percent of the population lives within 10 miles of Gate City. The kids that live in Blackwater would be on a school bus for over an hour to get to a centrally located school same for the east end of the county. Gate City is also full of Tennessee kids and how do you deal with that as a school board.
  5. No offense taken at all. I try to always think before I hit send. I have been through the ringer with Gate City and have grown as a fan and a poster.
  6. you are correct the Hampton in Carter County.
  7. Go read the message boards on Coach T....as a Gate City alum and supporter they are very similar.
  8. Gate City vs. Hampton would be good, similar game plans, similar fan bases!
  9. Greeneville is going to be absolutely loaded the next three years and Graham always has talent!
  10. I would like to see Graham play Greeneville.
  11. Merry Christmas to all you dear people! We disagree sometimes but it's just family disagreeing with family! Remember the true reason for the holiday!
  12. The TSSAA starting scheduling the regional schedules for all teams starting this season (2023) also the TSSAA is reclassifying this season too, and the Board of Governors voted 12-0 to allow NIL for high school kids The TSSAA has been busy!
  13. With all these states that are allowing NIL now for high school kids this could be more serious than previously joked about above! To the victor go the spoils!
  14. Welcome to the Club! Congratulations on winning your 5th State Championship! From all the Blue Devils in Scott County! All of Southwest Virginia is proud of you!
  15. Another TSSAA football season is in the books. I'd like to congratulate all 9 state champions, each game had it's own story and featured two first time champions, and a team that waited 49 years for its second title. Here are the results and it's just 36 weeks till the season starts again! Reclassification is taking place and I will post the new regions later! Here were the results. In Division 1: Class A. McKenzie beat Clay County 34-14. Neither team had a championship game appearance and McKenzie was the runner -up last year. Class 2A. Tyner Academy beat Riverside 26-24. It is Tyner Academy first title since 1997. Class 3A. Alcoa beat East Nashville 45-26. 8th Championship in a row for Alcoa and number 21 overall. Class 4A. The Mavericks of Anderson County finally won a title 34-30 over Pearl Cohn. It is their first championship! Class 5A. Knox West beat Page 47-13 and claimed it's second title and first since 2014. Class 6A. Oakland beat Beech 42-6 and claimed it's third title in and 7th overall. Oaklands only loss was to CPA in week one. In Division 2: Class A. Friendship Christian beat Nashville Christian 34-27. It was the 4th Sate Title for the Commanders! Class 2A: Lipscomb Academy won over CPA 42-0 and lost their head coach Trent Dilfer to UAB. It is the 5th title for the Mustangs! Class 3A: This was the game of the weekend! Ole Miss commit and MBA starting QB Marcell Reed's fumble, the only fumble MBA lost all year, led to Baylor winning it's first championship in 49 years. Baylor is loaded with underclass talent and is QB'd by Whit Muschamp ( yes Will's son) they should be hands down the team to beat in D2, 3A next year. Thank for all the views and comments. I will be pulling hard for Graham and GW this weekend and long for the days of my beloved Blue Devils to be elite again. Chris!
  16. Thumb rings are gaudy but they look good. Graham gets one for the thumb!

  18. Lipscomb leads CPA 28-0 at the half

  22. Jake was the best all round player I ever saw, I've seen run for 250 yards in a game and have 25 tackles! I enjoyed watching Thomas Jones run (glide) it was pure magic. The best player I ever saw in East Tennessee was James Stewart from Morristown West!
