Union hasn't been pushed since the Gate City game,and I don't see this game as a close one.Some are saying that they are ready to run the coach off already after 1 year at LEE, and they wonder why their program suffers every year.Lee is the largest AA school in this end of the state ,and they have some good athletes, they even hired a state champion coach from another state several years ago ,but they ran him off too.Lee should be a beast,but there not.KEEP YOUR COACH MORE THAN 3 YEARS AND MAYBE SOMETHING MIGHT HAPPEN.

playoffs should be for teams with winning records, something like the NCAA bowl games.If you don't have enough teams with winning records, then the top team or teams gets a first round bye. THERE IS NO reason a loosing record team to be in the playoff's, the VHSL wants more money to support team sports that don't make any money to support those programs, so they added games in the playoff's.Travel expences have made the playoff games very costly and needed to be changed, so we will see how the regional format works out,yes there will be re-matches but sometimes that's a good thing, I know the loser of Union Richlands,Graham,RICHLANDS game would want another crack at those outcomes

J JONES went to the FIGHTING IRISH and he did very well, I wouldn't bet against a call from him to MITCHELL , IF THEY WANT HIM. on the negative side....new coach coming very soon.....LANE KIFFAN?Just might be a good fit!!!!!

Mitchell is looking right now, and he should, but it will take a lot to change his dreams of playing at TECH.Beamer retiring made me think he may go somewhere else but VA TECH has surprised me and many more. James has friends there(BRYCE SPEARS,not playing football) and being a couple of hours up the road for home games is a big advantage to TECH.I think he needs to look at everything and enjoy the ride, he is a plus for any program on and off the field.....good luck james

There are to many teams in the playoff, granted a 5&5 GATE CITY deserves to be there but the others I am not sure about.The VHSL thought they would rake in the money with the extra games but the travel cost has offset any extra revenue that was gained. In the end we all want the best football played and if it stays the top 8 from each region that's fine.Remember Jonesville was 5-5 at the end of the year and they won out and took the state.

NO OTHER TEAM HAS GIVEN JLA FITS LIKE UNION, THEY WERE ALL OVER HIM AND A PIC 6 BY MITCHELL. The only way to beat Richlands is to limit JOHN LUKE time on the field, UNION did that the whole game but then got away from the fullhouse backfield,3 yards and a cloud of astro-turf. This is a straight up lie,I was standing on the visitors side ,as I always do.I am a Lt. at the big stone gap police dept and was working the game. For someone to curse your players it would have meant that you got close to the goaline...we know that didn't happen, second the only yelling that goes on are at the refs, and our own kids,they are not drunk as we love to take drunks to jail,yes they are loud and against DAVEY CROCKETT WE THREW A UNION FAN OUT , for his action. Those who say Union fans are bad, I will respect your opinion but its total fiction. and lets remember it was CENTRAL THAT HAD A SCHOOL "HATE UNION WEEK" last year.I I watched the kids after the game, as I always do, great sportsmanship by both teams,MULLINS IS A WARRIOR, and he seems to be a great kid, maybe the adults could follow his lead
