I feel sort of bad for 2A losers. I mean if the Governor had been a little more timely with his declaration we could have had another set of co-champions. The Gate City girls can tout they are the true champions! They proved themselves on the court. I guarantee the co-champions would have preferred to win outright too. I know this is serious especially for elderly and those with weakened immune systems other health issues but have mercy. The media has made the panic a 100 times worse.

I think they're doing second interviews this week. I'm not sure who got second interviews but I'm sure it's just a formality to make sure i's are dotted & t's are crossed before officially offering Wells the position.

9 total I believe were interviewed, maybe four or five of those current assistants and none were Mike Compton & Thad Wells was among them. You may know more specifics than me. I'm getting secondhand info., Lol. Yes, I'd say you're right sooner than later.

Heard they held interviews today. I'm still hearing Wells is likely HC and bringing some people with him, won't keep more than three current assistants. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Bland's AD is the assistant principal.

I don’t know about most schools. I know the Graham AD isn’t a coach to my knowledge. Someone else might have more knowledge than me about how the majority of schools handle the AD position. I would also think salary schedule for different positions is on the Tazewell County website or if not, should be.

Typically, the AD has several periods unencumbered to attend to AD related duties. Technically, they're getting a salary just like any other teacher with the same number years experience to teach half as many classes plus get AD stipend. Not a bad deal really but I guess it evens out because they have to be at home sporting events after hours.

They definitely do not and I'm.not sure the boosters do either.

True, nothing is formal; some say Wells, some say Compton. I think application closes next week. They may "interview" and hire at the board meeting in March; Definitely no later than April. 7 on 7s are in June so surely you want someone in place ASAP.

If they're matching his coaching stipend in NC, I guess T. Palmer & J. Harris will be getting a raise. I heard the subject he wanted to teach was weightlifting ALL day & not a traditional class. That would be technically a new position. If that were to happen, I would presume, Tazewell & Graham would also add such a position. I can't imagine he'd want AD responsibilities. Heck from what I heard Ann Mance has been doing it all, I'd just let her keep it, lol since she's staying put. If they accept all his "requests" he'll be taking the helm. Which three coaches is he planning on keeping?

I thought giving up 10s of thousands in salary to go to Richlands would be crazy but someone said money isn't everything. I guess he & his wife want to be near family. I also heard he was making a couple requests if he did come which one would involve in part creating a new position. I don't know if my buddy at high school knows what he's talking about but we'll see I guess. I'm also thinking he'd bring in some of his own people. I think one guy has been with him at Blacksburg & Mooresville. If that's not right, someone can correct me.

Heard there's 99% chance from someone at RHS that it's going to be Wells. Now take it for what it's worth which probably isn't much, lol. The question is if it's Thad Wells, does he keep any of the current assistants if so, who? Or does he bring in his own people.

I'm simply saying there was no foul in those last few seconds. Union player wasn't even close to Dean. I agree, officiating was terrible, period in that game. Union missed key foul shots but I stand by what I witnessed, a terrible call in the crucial last few seconds.

The pundits were correct I being one of them, lol. This year SWD weak, M7 strong, I knew if Graham played like they.did first half against Lee, they'd be in trouble tonight. I've never seen a team blow a 12-3 lead so fast. Congratulations to them for SWD Champions & Tournament Champions. Maybe next year GMEN but I look for Union to be back strong they're a young team that took it to team with multiple Seniors.

I don't have a dog in the fight but I stayed after Graham's lackluster performance to watch the game. I can say unequivocally from an unbiased opinion Union got robbed. Hell, #14 for Gate City should have fouled out long before OT. Good luck to Gate City & Central but should have been Union.

Refs have made some bad calls, shouldn't have been a foul at the end of regulation. Horrible call!

Turning out about how I thought, Central dominating every aspect of the game.

I’m not Blues’ fan obviously but I respect the program that was built and the coaching staff over the years. I would hope Webb stays put too. He’s going to get the offers regardless. I can’t see uprooting the whole family to play for Mance in Loris. Sports makes parents do peculiar things, though. Ronnie Davis, current defensive coordinator applied according to someone he told personally. Take that for what it’s worth. I can see him giving up softball after this year with his star pitcher that won them state graduating this spring and focusing completely on coaching football . Football is a different bear to head coach than girls’ softball though. For the players and parents, I hope they make a decision sooner rather than later. Then the rumor mill can quit churning, lol.

The boys did great tonight against Bland after getting beaten twice by them in regular season. The girls , yikes! That was a painful score.
