Don't get me wrong because I think Chilhowie is a really good team.  They'll beat my Canes going away on Friday.

And let me start by saying this is not a criticism but a genuine observation.  IMHO, there is something missing about this team (and last year's) that I can't quite identify. When I think of really good CHS teams from the past (1970, 1971, 1980, 1981, 1996, 2001, 2008, and 2010), I don't see this team on the same level.  The experience, talent, speed, and athleticism all seem to be there.  They're not big but neither were the great teams from the past.  I don't know if it's a lack of execution, physicality, mental toughness, energy... It just doesn't seem like the hard-nosed Warrior teams I'm used to seeing over the years.

Everyone has their opinion but it's a long season. They play a tough first half of the season. I guess we will see come December but they like to play one week at a time.

  2. From what I have heard, Marion still has a pretty good team this year but i think Chilhowie has to many weapons and experience for Marion to handle. Chilhowie will pull away in the second half. With this game though, you never know. Could be a classic.

    Chilhowie 20

Final in the benefit game tonight!

2nd strings for both teams starting with 3 or 4 minutes left in the 3rd. Chilhowie was up 20-17. Chilhowie started off a little sluggish but after a couple of series they started picking it up. Great game from both teams. I know there is a lot of attention on Adkins but Ridgeview's #22 is a heck of a running back.

I had heard that the benefit game with Chilhowie started at 5:30?

Ridgeview has Lebanon in a scrimmage this Friday at 7:00.

Oh ok. I was just going by the Chilhowie's sports calendar. It had 7 pm on it for the Varsity. I didn't know they were having a JV scrimmage/game also.

  5. Congratulations to the Chilhowie Warriors on a great and enjoyable season. Hold your heads up high, you have nothing to be disappointed about.  You played till the very end.  You all are a great upstanding group of young men.  You made your community proud and showed true Warrior pride. Every game you gave it your all.  You all accomplished so much this year!! Something that hasn't happened in 40+ years. That is a lot to be proud of. I just want to say thank you for making this such a memorable season!!! Go Warriors!!!

I also want to Congratulate the Riverheads on another state title.

No hard feelings to the Chilhowie people, but this may get ugly fast. Riverheads by how many every they want to score.

I'm sure CHS90 will be upset with this reply, however put your money where you mouth is. I got $200 on Riverheads.

No, no, I got $1,000 on Riverheads.

Sorry dude, I don't bet on high school kids. They aren't professionals. They are kids playing their hearts out. Why would I be upset?..lol..I think it's funny when the underdog is not given a chance and walks away with the trophy..

I’ve been here about 17 years, you’ve been here 4 months.  And like so many fly-by-nighters, you vastly overrated SWVA in comparison to what the rest of the state offers.

Listen up.  I’m going to tell you just like I told the Richlands folks last season.  Take gratification and honor in that which you have accomplished this season, because on Saturday, you are going to meet a team that is your superior in each and every facet in the game.  You will be lucky if this game is still in doubt at halftime.

I didn't know the amount of time that you have been on a forum determines how much you know about football. Sorry but i have known, played, studied and understood football a lot longer than 4 months. From the way you talk, any west team should have just skipped football this year or have a game before handing out the trophy. I never think of handing someone a championship without waying both sides. I never said that it would be easy or a blowout but I believe in these kids and they believe in themselves. Anyone can be beat on any given day. Riverheads aren't the same team as last year and the Warriors aren't the same team as in August and September. I have nothing against your opinion but I have mine.

Luck won't have anything to do with the score being close at halftime. Lol

I really didn't expect this. I knew the Warriors had gotten better as the season went on but I didn't expect them to make it past Galax. How did Chilhowie do with the Galax run game? I hadn't seen any stats yet

Galax had 239 rushing. Had only one big run. The Warriors run defense is very good. Pass defense has gotten better over the past several weeks.

Riverheads is going to drill them back into the 1970s, and that’s OK.  Chilhowie has had an incredible season and is well primed to make a similar run next season.

Lol..I see you got jokes. Keep sleeping on the Warriors. I have a feeling that the trophy is come back to the west and probably stay there for several years. Either in Galax or Chilhowie..
