  1. Gate City could be 0-century and still come out hard against Union. I believe it'll be another one score kind of game. 24-21 either way
  2. 0-3 or 1-2 Would make a huge difference in PP in November compared to only playing 9 games. Not sure why they wouldn't make it up especially after the covid season everyone proved they could play on short notice and more than one game a week if need be.
  3. Stats don't lie, but so often it's stats/yards earned against lesser opponents and j.v. backups late in a game when they shouldn't be in the game to start with. O'quinn, Anderson, Reece, Creasy, Meadows, Pendergraft, Gate City (Bledsoe?) not sure of name, Honaker's Qb (not sure either), Rye Cove Qb ( NO PARTICULAR ORDER, OTHER THAN O'QUINN BEING FIRST) The issue is schedule. Several of these QB's aren't playing the same level of competition but will have great stats vs much lesser competition and playing late in some games when they shouldn't be. It'll be the same with RB's. Outside of Clements, it'll be whoever hits 1000 yards vs whatever.
  4. Agreed, Honaker is a notch above anything in the West with Rye Cove being the only close game they've had. Cove exposed a few weak points well but self-inflicted wounds cost them. It should be a good rematch in November. The rest of 1D is absolutely a coin flip. 1C will be a dog fight with some good matchups.
  5. Clements healthy gets his 120-150 maybe. Union D pretty solid, guess palmer wasn't chancing it after the fumble ignited the first half, but watching looks like 2D championship rematch in November. Looking at VHS, who knows? They play tough one week and not-so-tough the next. Graham is struggling a bit but I see them rebounding and getting back on track this week. It might not be pretty, but I think they get the win with or without Clements. Pulaski Co is the only remaining game in question. Losing B-Burg on the schedule might change their normal PP they've been accustomed to if they were to lose to P-Co but they would still grab the #2 spot more than likely. PP #2-5 will be tight, again.
  6. Said that last season, the difference is the weak link that was exploited at DE. He's not on the field now, expecting different results, but should be a great game.
  7. Just didn't look line Graham was anywhere near what they've been the past couple seasons. They'll be better by the seasons end, but the only test they'll have from here on will be Pulaski co. They'll be the #2 unless union/Ridgeview &union/ gate city goes south.
  8. For a moment there, when it was 13-6, thought maybe a little park magic would come into play. Union killed several of their own drives with silly 5 yard penalties and Science Hill only made a few mistakes the entire game that Union was unable to capitalize on. Science Hill had a ton of athletes and good sized youngins, but a little disappointed with the numbers in their crowd. Play-calling wasn't the worst I've seen, but the jet sweep wasn't happening. When they actually opened up the playbook a little and started looking downfield, you could see the momentum swing back huge. But then, they took their foot off the gas pedal, and back to jet sweep and bubble screens. Or, maybe they just ran out of gas all together. Gotta quit calling plays that don't result in TD's lol. The band was one of the best we've heard in years. The Bears never quit. It was like the scene in Monty Pythons's quest, "It's only a flesh wound", as the Bears kept losing limbs but wanted to keep fighting. If they can keep that attitude, who knows how far they could go this season. Good luck to both moving on.
  9. He's still on dial up bahaha. Don't call him, he'll get disconnected and have to start over.
  10. Coverages aren't taught the same anymore, football was simpler when you had defensive coaches witty enough to mix it up and disguise it. Don't understand why in the age of the spread, very little in your face man to man anymore. Seems like instead of developing kids, coaches just hiding them with help over top all the time in a hybrid-like zone scheme. Newsflash, zones might have some holes. Frustrating to watch at times.
  11. Don't know who the backup qb is/was but I'm still scratching my head as to why TW wasn't sending the house on Defense vs the wildcat that wasn't going to hurt them on the pass. TW was in it for a minute but came apart much like Clemson. Lee capitalized on some silly mistakes and never looked back. Defense carried them well. Good luck to both the rest of the season, hope your qb's heal up quick and ready to go asap.
  12. Intro songs can be iconic and all, but the "WOO" factor at Ridgeview in a big game is by far the best sound around when the whole crowd is doing it and getting into it. Completely trumped the train horn as of late. The loud atmosphere is just not the same with the small horns that sound like model T horns. Atmosphere plays a huge role in home field advantage, but I believe it'll come down to the last possession. If Union can chew some time and score, it might be really tight but they can't afford to get into a shootout at this point in the season. I would like to see this game later in the season.
  13. Pv lost to manassas park then just a few years later they re-classified all the way up to 4A? Fuzzy math for a long time there. Should have still took care of business.
  14. Lpd and Cumberland were good examples. Div 1a and div 2a champs usually had some tougher non-district than everyone else in the region. Paid off most years.
  15. See this one about the same as last week vs central. Coin flip, but Lebanon qb could be the difference. 1-2 score game
  16. It used to be tough to get in compared to the current charity system. District champ automatic bid should have never been used except for tie breaker possibilities. Power points only, and higher always hosts.
  17. Like to see taz battle back, tough task.
  18. Good luck to that young man and a speedy recovery.
  19. TW didn't look much improved from a season ago but more often than not, the Cumberland teams every 3-4 years cycle up and down. It's difficult playing up with 2A in a down time with less #s all the way around. On the other hand, it wasn't total domination as much as big busts over and over. Just not much resistance from the pioneers. Best of luck the rest of the season.
  20. Team speed for Richlands wasn't very good. Decent sized athletic kids that looked like they've been in the weight room, just not a lot of speed. Good luck the rest of the way.
  21. Like most great match ups, line play will decide it all. If SH isn't real physical up front, could be a tough night on both sides of the ball. SH will have #s for sure, but only 11 at a time. Morristown west was similar a few years back during that series so it should be fun to watch.
  22. Central has struggled to replace talent the past couple of seasons. Eastside is improved, but it's a coin flip vs Marion.
  23. Looks like nobody is a real cut above at this point, but it's way too early to plan that December meal in Roanoke for anyone. Gonna be a tough year in 1D and 2D.
