  1. An update on Aiden Buckingham from Facebook. From his grandmother Vickie. Just a quick update on Aiden, the tumor is out and the doctor feels he was able to completely remove it. We will have to wait for the pathology report to see if any further treatment is needed. His speech and memory is intact he is resting comfortably rating his pain a 3. He has been an excellent patient and has completely charmed the nurses and doctors . We can’t thank you enough for your prayers and support. Our God is an awesome God and all the praise and glory goes to Him!
  2. Praying for the best possible outcome for this young man along with strength and comfort for his family.
  3. Congrats to Joey Carroll on a nice sophomore season. No doubt we'll see this program continue to trend upward.
  4. My analysis of the game so far. The tiny orange specks move faster than the tiny white ones.
  5. The GC-U PA announcer just said Gate City will travel to Graham to play the G-Men at Ernie Hicks Stadium in Bluefield, VA.
  6. CONGRATULATIONS!!! SWVA schools dominate today in state Cross Country. Champs Team: Lebanon (Boys), Abingdon (Girls, Boys), George Wythe (Girls), Wise Central (Boys) Individual Champs: Derek Mitchell, Lebanon (Class 1 Boys), Jessi Looney, Grundy (Class 1 Girls), Makaleigh Jessee, Abingdon (Class 3 Girls) per Tim Hayes Twitter
  7. In the Class 1 Vball State Quarterfinals, Giles sweeps Chilhowie 3-0 to advance to the State Semis.
  8. How can John Battle improve? 1. Schedule a Marion-JSB series. 2. Call Steve Wright and beg him to come back. Incidentally, this advice could also apply to Marion.
  9. Ironically, the only other 0-10 team in Chilhowie history was actually better than the '17 and '18 state runner-up teams and the '70 State Championship team. The 1980 team was 9-1 but had to forfeit all its wins due to an ineligible 2nd string player and missed the playoffs.

  12. ...we weren't held scoreless by Northwood in a 5 quarter game.
  13. It only matters for historical purposes. I wanted Researcher to be aware that there was some confusion as to the actual score
  14. The Salem score has been reported as 55-3, 62-3, and 61-3. As I said earlier, WSLS reported all three before finally settling on 61-3. WDBJ has it at 61-3. @Bluefield researcher currently has it at 55-3 on fourseasons. Salem fans on the other site are saying 61-3. Max Preps has it at 62-3, so we can be confident that one's incorrect.
  15. You are on it, my man. I got it corrected. WSLS has reported three different scores for that game with the last being 61-3. THANKS!

  17. IINM, instead of 4 groups (regions) of 8 teams each, all the West teams were combined into a single 16 team bracket. Blacksburg was #10 of 16.
  18. You're assuming because they played, that they wanted to play. Marion has been the recipient of far too many undeserving playoff berths. Admittedly, there were a few kids who never wanted to play their last game. But I can tell you by talking to those kids personally, many knew their team didn't deserve a berth, and frankly, were ready for the season to end. Most played basketball, wrestled, swam, or ran indoor and were more than ready to start a new season. The season-ending sacrificial slaughter to the #1 seed was not appealing.
  19. Someone should ask the kids from Cumberland High School how they felt about "suiting up more time." Cumberland finished 0-10 in 2017 and was awarded a playoff berth against Lunenburg Central, a team that curb-stomped them in the regular season. The playoff game went no better. And guess what happened in 2018? Cumberland (0-10) was awarded a playoff berth yet again against, you guessed it, Lunenburg Central. And, yes, another woodshed beating that year. So... to those of you who support eight playoff teams per region, is this an acceptable consequence?
  20. In case you missed it, Phil Robbins has also retired at Powell Valley https://heraldcourier.com/sports/end-of-an-era-pvs-robbins-will-retire-after-2010-season/article_2b0f0bbc-df9b-5735-aaf2-d4b4c5f6f31d.html
