The M7 district was competitive but down a notch or two as a whole this year in my opinion. This Abingdon team is not like Abingdon teams of the past, and still no one could beat them.

Neither team is going to use any of their top pitching in these non-district games here at the end, they are just trying to get them in.

Yes, somehow that slipped my mind. Maybe I had heard they would be dropping back down next cycle, and got ahead of myself. Is that true?

I'd say Lebanon baseball has a shot at winning state, as does the winner of Rye Cove or Eastside softball. Eastside hasn't been able to beat the Eagles yet though the past two seasons. I don't see any of our regional 2A teams winning a title this year, and I think the teams above are better than the 2A teams in our region.

The officials for the Auburn/Lancaster game was an AOA crew.

Honaker could have chosen UVA-Wise to keep the teams together. It wasn't like it was a totally new court to them, since they had already played in the holiday tournament there.

I don't think I've seen this discussed on here, but why did Honaker with both their girls' and boys' teams playing, choose to split their crowd by not playing at UVA-Wise?

Eastside girls vs. Fort Chiswell on Tuesday at UVA-Wise at 6:00, followed by Central vs. Liberty Bedford at 7:30.

John Marshall beat a good 2A Radford team 91-34 last year in the title game, so there is no way anyone stays within 50 this year. They don't let up.

What needs to grow? This tourney serves the purpose it was intended for, to provide local teams and local fans a holiday tournament against regional competition in a facility that is second to none.

There sure are a lot of teams that participate in it and and a lot of fans that attend it for it to be a "joke".
