  1. Graves has obviously improved, but he doesn’t do near what Bunch does. GC held Graves to 12 last year and outside of scoring he doesn’t bring a whole lot to the table….give me Bunch 10/10 times.
  2. In the span of almost a week we have seen in the Cumberland Cove beat Eastside Burton beat Cove Eastside beat Burton Eastside beat TS TS beat Burton TS blow out Burton In the Hogo you have Holston beat Chilhowie Northwood beat Lebanon in OT PH beat RR Northwood beat Chilhowie Lebanon blow out RR Chilhowie blow out Lebanon RR beat Holston PH beat Northwood 1D is wild
  3. I feel like Lane from TS and the guard from Northwood have an argument as well.
  4. Eastside dominates Twin Springs. I think you definitely have tiers in 1D but there is no favorite. I would put Tier 1 as Eastside, Burton, Cove, Springs, Northwood and Lebanon. These teams are all 50/50 matchups depending on the night, officiating, who shoots well etc. The contrast in styles is interesting. Eastside/Cove are methodical defensive grinding teams. Northwood and Springs highly dependent on two stars with solid role players. Lebanon and Burton pressure oriented teams who force a lot of turnovers. I would put Tier 2 as Honaker, Grundy, Chilhowie and Thomas Walker and possibly Holston/PH. These teams can beat a Tier 1 team but it’s more like 70/30 in favor of the Tier 1. In a one game scenario that’s more than enough odds. Tier 3 is everyone else-they can possibly beat a 2 but not a Tier 1.
  5. Why are you lecturing me about personal attacks? You are not my professor. You are the one who cried foul when your narrow viewpoint was challenged. PM may well win it all again….or perhaps Lancaster will…or it may be a dark horse. The whole purpose of looking at scores, styles of play, injuries, officiating and everything else we discuss on a message board is to try and figure out what could happen in a single night of basketball that hasn’t occurred yet. Right now we have actual evidence that PM isn’t 20 points better than Narrows or Auburn, so it isn’t unreasonable to think that a team from 1D could beat them in a one game scenario.
  6. Burton almost beat the unbeatable PM last year without 2 starters in the semis. Also, if Hamilton has been out for stretches all year, why would you make that an excuse and point to the Narrows game an outlier? And believe me, it crushes me that you, a name/bunch of numbers with poor grammar who pretends to understand basketball on the internet refuses to take me seriously if I don’t mention Union.
  7. This is inaccurate-apparently the big man only had cramps late in the game and played almost the entire game. Someone who watches as much NFHS as you probably should have observed that.
  8. Lebanon blew a 20+ point lead but ended up beating Narrows double digits. Then Lebanon blew a 15 point lead against the Tigers last night. Seems to me that PM might not be the unbeatable force you claimed
  9. Honaker beats Marion and Rye Cove(while shorthanded) and gets boat raced by Twin Springs and Lebanon. Rye Cove barely beats Tom Walker gets beat by Norton then turns around and drills Eastside and Twin Springs Single A tourney is going to be wild
  10. Eastside should have won this game-they panicked a little at the end and studs do what studs do making tough shots. What Twin Springs did in the Arby’s is pretty meaningless-no one scouted them or gameplanned or anything. In those kinds of games their two studs will carry them to competitive scores.
  11. Va High will give them a game-I’m not sure anyone else does. I felt like Marion would be much better than they have been.
  12. I’m trying to figure out how 11 for GC comes back into the pile and puts his hands on a coach without any repercussions but the two kids who left the bench for Central were ejected
  13. Style matters-especially in single A. Twin Springs has two studs so they are less susceptible but a pressing team can beat a halfcourt team on any given night and vice versa. Richlands got Honaker into an up and down game. Burton slowed Richlands down etc.
  14. RC depends so much on Chavez for scoring that they can be beaten if someone can defend him or he has an off night. A very short handed Honaker team beat them at Wise by holding him to 17
  15. After GC didn’t suspend a player for breaking a kid’s jaw a few years ago my guess is that nothing will happen.
  16. Lol….sure. Va High forcing like 25 turnovers a game but it was all self inflicted 🙄
  17. Ridgeview was overmatched the other night until Va High melted down and completely forgot how to play. TS looked good at Arbys-they’ve got two big time players
  18. Just to revisit this: Honaker has been decimated by injures so they are pretty much out-may win the BDD and then lose to Cumberland 3. Twin Springs looks good as does Eastside and Rye Cove. Can’t get a good feel for Lebanon until after the Wise tourney. Chilhowie/Holston not what I expected either. In 2D I would say Union still head and shoulders above everyone. Graham and RV above GC right now and Va High/Marion probably next in line.
  19. Graves is a bad matchup for Abingdon because they have to play zone to compensate for Ramsey. He can be defended by good M2M…iirc GC held him way below his average when they stomped Graham last year (after which his coach said in the paper that he was the best player in the region 😵‍💫.) Union did a great job on Cormany last year so I can’t imagine them having much trouble with Graves. Over the back is not a foul….on the back is a foul. A 7 footer can absolutely reach over top of another kid as long as there isn’t a lot of contact.
