They got outcoached, and got outcoached badly.  Riverheads was the better team today without question (especially regarding their DL), but there were several colossal blunders that lay strictly on the feet of the coaching staff.  Not taking the points down 7-0 in the 2nd.  Not attempting one single mid-range pass until deep into the 3rd quarter.  A desperation onside kick immediately after that score.  Several passes at or behind the LOS, one of which Riverheads pick-6ed.  All those being with the outcome of the game in question.

The players never ever quit and gave their all even when the outcome was well in hand.  But there should be some  rightful questioning of that gameplan.  Chilhowie was prepared like a team seeking to make it close, and not to win.  Calling it as I see it.  Agree to disagree if we must.

Now that Chilhowie returns no one let the rumors fly about Coach Robinson retirement cause they will be back to the old Chilhowie.

I'll agree that Riverheads was better, but not 28 pts better. Chilhowie's D played really good, but you can't leave them on the field the whole game. Riverheads started getting big chunks on the ground because the Warriors' D was tired. Why were they tired? Because of all the 3 and outs on offense. Why all the 3 and outs? Couldn't get consistent yards. Why couldn't they get consistent yards? Because of predictable play calling.

The only time they truly mixed it up, they scored. Kept Riverheads on their toes that drive. Had they been the least bit inventive early on, it would have been a much closer game. The same 3 or 4 plays works on lesser competition, but not equal or better.

As UVA said, the kids gave their all and played great. The Chilhowie community should be very proud of their effort.

Not to sound like a smart a#$ but obviously they were 28 pts better

I will admit that I didn't watch Pollier enough to compare them and I don't think you watched either of them enough to compare them.  I also don't like comparing high school kids.  I did however watch Sproles a lot, and even with his awards he is undervalued.  He is really really good.

Thus being the reason I said might as well give it to them both because obviously they, being the coaches don't care to give multiple awards to multiple positions.  I mean My Gosh 2 QBs 8 linemen and 3 rb's?   Might as well have 2 POY Defensive players.  I agree with Unions Hammer in a way, that's why the world is in the shape it is in now.  Everyone wants an award.  23 1st team awards is stupid when I said you can only play 11 at a time.  and my comparison on Polier and Sproles came off stats.  I do belive Polier has more tackles than Sproles did this year with a much tougher schedule

You don't think Sproles, the MLB deserved Def POY?  He was by far the best defensive player in the entire conference this year.

He is good though and to the victor goes the spoils and comparing then it would be a toss up for POY between him and Polier.  Why not give it to both of them Hell they don't care to give two awards to everyone else

week 10 in Va is playyoff week one in Tenn so not sure how that will work

IDK maybe moved the game to a different date im not sure but like I said just rumors for now.  They seem to float around this time of year LOL

Adkins isn't leaving Ridgeview. Mullins rumor I've heard also but not to Ridgeview I've heard J.I.B. Who I heard got a QB transfer a couple of weeks ago from Va High.

Nah Mullins aint going anywhere I talked to him last week.  We have Brickey back and some other nice targets for him to throw to.  Only concern is our line.  If Luke stays then he needs to find some linemen cause we certainly don't have any coming up. Need to find a D coordinator for sure.  We will have Reynolds and Crabtree in the backfield which will be the new two headed monster in the Mountain 7 for a few years  Abingdon will still be good next year but will be missing a lot of pieces, Just imagine if by some good fourtune, Owens resigns and Amburgy gets a chance to come home and coach.  Union will be WAY down.  Ridgeview like I said will struggle without a line I don't care if Walter Payton is in the backfield.  So realistically I see Central no worse than 3rd next year and who knows maybe Mountain 7 champs year after depending on line play.

I really am starting to believe the rumor of Adkins transferring is false because he is playing basketball.  If he was transferring at all, I don't think he would be playing hoops.  So, we would be returning both the offensive and defensive players of the year in the district.

Speaking of transfers... Another rumor going around is the QB that replaced McAmis transferring to Ridgeview.  I don't see Ridgeview being any worse than third.

I don't think Adkins is going anywhere but hey who knows.  Also I don't think Mullins, who replaced McAmis will leave either.  He has a bright future here.  Ridgeview does lose a QB some recievers as well as all of the line which is hard to replace.  Guess we will just have to wait and see what happens in a few months.

Central has all the talent in place to be a really solid team. However the coaching staff is a complete joke. I’m pretty sure the defensive coordinator gets his game plans from YouTube videos or the book, “defense for dummies”.  They need to wipe the slate clean and hire a new head coach. They make no adjustments, they are the laughing stock of coaching staffs. The program needs a complete overhaul. The play calling for the most part is atrocious. They can barely get a play sent in before the play clock runs out. I agree that they will be tough for the upcoming years but until they get a new coach I don’t see much change. And it hurts to think that. Just my opinion. Hands down the WORST coached team in the Mountain 7. These kids lost 1 game in 3 seasons at the 8th grade and JV level. Dominating other teams. Now they have coaches that can’t even muster up a simple defensive adjustment         Or call an offensive play to counter the defensive alignment. How about let the guy that has coached the JV take over? Couldn’t be any worse than the coaching we have now.

All good points, However I don't see current coaching staff changing anytime soon.  I did, however thing that after the Principal left we might would have seen a change but apparently that's not gonna happen.  Who knows maybe we can get in the mix of the possibility of getting Adkins from Ridgeview LOL.

  9. Got to looking at the district next year and could very well be the year we start our rise in the Mountain 7.  We return everyone with a year experience under our belt.  Union graduates a lot with Bunch and Turner. and Ridgeview will lose the whole line this year as well as Sexton and Sproles.  I also think JB graduates a lot.  Gate City should be better this year depending on new coach.  Abingdon graduates a lot as well even though I will have them #1 in district.  My prediction is Abingdon, Union, Central, Ridgeview, John Battle, Gate City, Lee

This is my feeling as well. I would not call it a participation trophy for everyone cause there are 7 teams in the district. Each coach is trying to get some attention for their players.

LPD had 7 also and never had this many.  It teaches kids nothing.  Heck if I were a kid and done the math its not hard to figure out that I can miss x # of practices and have a certain % that I will make 1st, 2nd, or HM regardless.

Yeah Ridgeview Off and Def POY that's a joke!!! They've choked 2 years in a row. Polier from Union got rippped.

I do agree with you on the Def POY.  I don't think Ridgeview deserved it however I think Polier is where he should have been.  I also think that OL POY should have went to the kid from Abingdon alone.   By having all these kids getting awards is teaching them nothing.  You have some that got 2nd team who are better than some who got 1st.  Some got HM who should have gotten 1st or 2nd.  In the end everyone won I guess LOL
