Now,  I believe central can say they're solid.  Great win,  good luck next week to both.

The real question is.......can Ridgeview say that they have been solid? That's three years in a row they've lost on their home field to a lower seed and they've never advanced past round 2 of the playoffs. Central has proven something this year. So far, Ridgeview hasn't proven much to me. Ridgeview will need to advance to the Region Title game before I respect them in the playoffs. Until then, I'm just not picking them in a playoff game where the opponent is reasonably close.

Doesn't really tell me if Union quit early in the game though.  Obviously Graham was better, was just asking if they were 40 points better.

Union didn't quit. If any team quit, it was Graham which called the Dogs off starting in the late 2nd qtr.

Graham out physicalled Union. Union likes smashmouth football. Graham smashed them in the mouth.

Did Union quit in this game, or is Graham really 40-50 points better?

Graham is really 50 points better when Graham plays it's A game and when Union has lots of injuries. Also, Appo is 40 points better than Ridgeview like I said they were and those two aren't a "toss up" game.

Teams that can't advance past the 2nd round of the playoffs are not going to be in a "toss up" game with Appo. They would get throttled.

  4. Central is way different. They traveled to Ridgeview and avenged their former loss. They beat Union straight up. Graham is playing a team that is truly BETTER than Richlands, Union, and Ridgeview. It's the second best team will have faced all season. Let em go ahead and look ahead to Appo and they will be facing a similar situation as Union game 1. If Graham plays it's game, they will win.

Union will completely trash your first sentence defensive setup. At least part of it.

As for game strategy, I'm thinking this.......if I'm Graham, I'm keying on Polier every play with a spy, be it Edwards or Kastner, and I'm ensuring big Meadows is on defense on early snaps where Union is likely to run and can't get a huge push, and thus forcing them into a long second and/or 3rd down.

No, my first sentence was spot on and Edwards and/or Kastner were placed as a spy on Polier all night and Meadows played tons of early downs like I told you he would.  Union failed to "completely trash my first sentence."  It was the opposite, and the first sentence was spot on.

Tony Palmer may be one of the most underrated coaches in Virginia.

Tony understands the following concept well, and how to make it happen.   Get your athletes out in space and in one on one situations.  Graham does exactly that.  Credit the other Palmer on defense.  Since this man has arrived, it's like Graham's defense literally turned it around from day 1.

Dude is crow filled, period.   I told him Graham would have one of the two linebackers spying Polier every play with Meadows playing on early downs in defensive series.   He said that would not work or it would be blown up immediately.  He then argued that Meadows wasn't good on defense.   Just straight........crow.

Didn't go to Graham the 1st time. How did Union win that football game?

Graham had 2 hurt linebackers that played, but they were injured.  Justice didn't play, and Graham had over 130 total yds in penalties.  Also, credit Union.  They took it to Graham and played hard and Graham turned over, had penalties, add some injuries, and Union was 100 percent, and they won.  Union has some injuries for this game tonight, so the tables are turned some.  Graham is playing to its potential.  When they do, it's a problem for opponents.

  9. You know, they stopped sounding the train horn about midway through the second qtr, LMAO.  Also, the Union stadium announcer is a guy I feel sorry for.  This guy is so depressed that his voice is actually cracking as he's calling the game.  I think the guy literally might have been crying a bit in the late 1st qtr.  Also, Union played the train horn up until the snap of the football all through the first qtr.  That's a bad look, period.  I'm a horn man.  I love horns and whistles and stuff, but playing them literally during the cadence is not cool.  Either way, the train horn has ran out of gas.
